The Inaugural Perth CC (Bitcoin) meet up was great

Could not have asked for a better cross section of people

In attendance great people with both a variety of backgrounds and depth of knowledge.

Notables

Had Bitcoin Stickers, T- Shirts , Badges and even genuine Casascius

Some of BitCoin heavy weights there! as well.

I propose a PERTH Australia meetup on the 30th Of March 2013, 11.30 AM Sunday 7th APRIL 2013, 10.00 AM - 12.00PM. (AWST haha)  Location, foyer in the State Libary,

Object to discuss all things bitcoin/Crypto's

Specific objectives

Major Long term
Make a Perth based Bitcoin Exchange, that includes accepting cash for bitcoins, and give cash for Bitcoins, like a currency exchange, and LTC as well.

Short term
Look at mining options.

Other
Perhaps seed a Perth based world class Bitcoin Exchange (I mean 3000KM to anything else why not aim for the stars).

Do some Bitcoin stunts.

Ok, so everyone was late... but it did actually happen. I'm not sure we really got much done but it was at least interest to discuss some topics with people who have a clue.

After a lot of time discussing Altcoins and what is good or bad about them, I went on my own to the Perth Mint and paid $10 for the tour. The obvious Propaganda explains how wonderful the Government of Western Australia is for offering incentives for people to look for gold. How the Government created the gold rush. I tried not to be offended by the tour guide who seemed to marvel at his own significants because he was pouring gold. (Given the money, any 5 year old could do it) I won't detail the rest of the Propaganda, I switched of and enjoyed the highlight, seeing liquid gold poured out.

Someone called out the One Kilogram coin as a fake, I don't know, perhaps it was just awful lighting, but it didn't have the shine you expect from gold... and after he said it... I said, "the emperor has no cloths" and a few people seemed to agree

There was a whole bunch of stuff there that said it was gold, as an amateur I can't really argue with conviction, I can say it didn't look real to me.

Honestly I've picked up more gold and handled more gold at a coin shops.

On the whole it was a disappointing experience, I'd recommend it if you want to go and hear the Government story about how awesome the Government is, and see a bureaucrat pour gold while congratulating himself on how awesome he is.
