What does this mean?
Bitcoin addresses contain a checksum, so it is very unlikely that mistyping an address will cause you to lose money.

it means you've installed the client correctly.

it has downloaded the entire blockchain.

and you haven't sent or received any Bitcoin.

no.

you have to go to the menu for that and click the 'generate coins' checkbox.  that's assuming you still can with version 0.3.22, and assuming that's the version you downloaded.

it doesn't matter though - generating coin using a CPU (which is what that checkbox uses) in the client is a waste of time.  you won't ever get anything.  that's been the case for months.

i think you want the Mining Forum...

Someone wants to send me 100$ for one of my Craigslist products.

How can I make this transaction safe/successful?

Give them the address displayed in the "Your Bitcoin Address" field. After you receive the payment, wait until the text next to it says "6 confirmations". (Should take about an hour.)

I know this because Tyler knows this.
