I'm retiring from speculation. It was fun, but in the end you always lose on the short-game.

That said I am officially joining the "long-haul club". I decided I would turn 99% of my coins to cash now and enjoy the profits.

The remaining 1% have been ordered as physical coins which I will store until I can either buy a house with them or they become worthless.

I love Bitcoin, but at the end of the day speculation is too close to gambling for comfort.

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Good for you.

I think there are other candidates for 'most honest post' though:

That's not the long-haul club, that's cashing out and leaving a nominal amount to bitcoin just so you can say you're still invested.

It seems early to pull 99%, but I guess if you are leveraged or have a lot of debt it might make sense.

Indeed.

No guts, no glory.
