The Yacoin dev team has been congratulated by multiple users for Yacoin YAC being listed on Poloniex.

NOPE, that's YaCCoin YACC, a blatant scam/ripoff of our name.

Poloniex seems to be a reputable place, so they should either de-list YaCCoin YACC immediately, or, at a minimum require them to use a different name on the exchange.

This is a problem between coin devs. Exchanges are simply markets, they should never get involved in coin politics and have no business forcing a coin to change their name.

That would be like BestBuy getting involved in the dispute between Apple and Samsung and trying to force Samsung to change their UI. It has absolutely nothing to do with BestBuy and they are right to stay out of it.

Exchanges are responsible for making sure their users are not being scammed. If I create a coin tomorrow and name it Bittcoin, and then get it listed on an exchange with the name Bittcoin -BCN, what is my intent?

Also, BestBuy is a retail store. We're talking about something more akin to a stock exchange. So, it would be like adding an IPO of a company called AppIe AAPI (<-- that is a capital i )  on the Nasdaq and then telling investors, bully to you for not checking the name in gedit/notepad.

By the community not regulating things like this, you/we are opening doors to big governments who use things like this to justify their taking things over.

Both coins have been around a long time. It just so happens Yacc was added to a major exchange long before Yac. That doesn't make it a scam. The implication that they intentionally stole the name/ticker symbol to scam people is ridiculous and does nothing to further your cause. If you think there is market confusion pressure Yacc to change their name or you should change yours. This is simply a simple name dispute between private parties. Putting it on Poloniex is just passing the buck. It's not their job to play judge and jury.

OK, you seem a rational person, so let's try this...

Yacoin, released in May of 2013 is the:

THIRD Proof of Stake coin released.

FIRST to introduce Scrypt-N, NFactor, scrypt-jane, etc.

FIRST to implement sha3

Has been on major exchanges since May of 2013.

Yacoin initial announcement https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=196196.0 : 177 Pages : Read 301977 times

Yacoin ongoing development https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=206577.0 : 165 Pages : Read 291358 times

-----

Now on to YaCCoin...

Released January, 2014

Openly created using http://devtome.com/doku.php?id=scrypt_altcoin_cloning_guide (https://github.com/yaccoin/yaccoin/commit/c874a622616488ad599b4f577b0b1646e5b33168)

Introduced nothing new to the crypto community, outside of a great name attack on an older established coin.

YaCCoin initial announcement https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=482232.0 : 1 Page : Read 2189 times

Do a search... any search engine, for YaCCoin... do you get a "did you mean" suggestion, and/or do you see many relevant pages for YaCCoin, or Yacoin?

Now...  With the facts stated above, do you think it's safe to assume that Poloniex ACCIDENTALLY listed the wrong coin, or was the intent to actually list Yacoin ?

Thanks for the detailed info, it's helpful in seeing your perspective. From what I can tell Yaccoin has been on polo for over a year. If that's right why has this just become an issue now? New management team?

If Polo listed the wrong coin by mistake and it's been on the exchange for over a year without anyone noticing that would be remarkable.

We should have done much more, but me and a few other Yacoin supporters brought the issue up numerous times to Poloniex when it first happened. Unfortunately, there was never any acknowledgement of the issue. I think we all gave up on it expecting Poloniex to either, no longer be around, or at least for YACC to disappear due to low volume. The problem is, people are trading it, thinking it's YAC! I haven't done a correlation analysis, but I'm pretty sure the recent volume in YACC is due to news of a new wallet coming soon on our Twitter account.

Maybe someone from Poloniex will at least see this thread and respond???
