Compare his responses to the others on the thread. Also see Hal's replies to the client-announcement thread. He's on a higher level than anyone else. When I first went through these, not knowing who he was, I was convinced that this guy was a "plant" of some kind — i.e., he had to have been at least familiar with Bitcoin before it was announced, to be able to make those kinds of analyses. Well, I did a little more research, and it turns out he's merely a genius.

Thx for the link ~andrewdadr.  I should have found this archive and considered it required study some time ago.  I'm supposed to be working, but scanned a few of the mails.  Enough to realize that I was quite wrong in my conjecture about how Satoshi might have viewed the likely growth trajectory of the Bitcoin solution and the resources required to operate it.  His thoughts seem to be very close to Mike Hearn's (which I continue to disagree with personally.)
