Last time BTC moved up into five figures and rallied to a new 2019 high, the altcoins were pulled up with it. This time it looks different. Are we going to see another alt season?

don't rely too much on rising bitcoin prices as the next altcoin pump, because the market is still price sensitive. while market fluctuations depend on demand and supply in the market. so if bitcoin currently dominates the market, it shows that there is more market demand for bitcoin, you misinterpret the altcoin season, in fact the altcoin season only happens once and that only happens to popular altcoins like ethereum, when the rate rises in 2017. if you expect the altcoin season to arrive, you need to reconsider with popular altcoin and not with coins that are difficult to develop and you certainly will not make a profit if investing in altcoin is dead.

Here is an overview of the Altcoins market dominance over time.

MACD red    : Bitcoin dominant
MACD green : Altcoins dominant

I'm pretty sure at some point the altcoins dominance will increase in strength again, like it has done so many times in the past.
Its just on a low point in its longterm cycle right now.

Hopefully this year we will see the altcoins season, but this is not easy as altcoins has never showed some good recovery so far, and that's the reason why BTC dominance rate is so high now. I thought it's safe to say that the dominance of BTC now is stable at 70%, it's a new milestone of success for BTC if we look on the competition in the market, but if we look at the effect of the overall market, it's not really what we like to see.

such a strong dominance of bitcoin tells me that very soon it will begin to decline and altcoins will start to bring high profits.

that was a one time thing that happened only in a very short amount of time. otherwise most of 2017 when bitcoin went up, altcoins got dumped like these days.
the only reason for that pump in altcoins were the fact that bitcoin was struggling for months to shoot up above $5k so altcoins started seeing huge pumps instead which they continued until the end of the year.

for now, things are normal which means when bitcoin rises altcions get dumped.

I think that dominance could grow to 77% because there is no resistance on this way. After that I believe that trend will change and altcoins will start pumping, firstly altcoins from top 10 and then others.  Cool

Altcoins are not interesting for now. We need new money into cryptocurrencies because Bitcoin price grows only thanks to altcoins. People selling altcoins in panic and buying Bitcoin.  Cry

I found a report of Grayscale (https://bit.ly/2lZ4EmF). Investments in altcoins are increasing in Q2 compared to Q1 2019  (Q1 - 1% of all investments are for alcoins; Q2 - the number goes to 24%)

With the launch of the Bitcoin futures market, I think the bitcoin share will continue to increase, but the altcoin market will eventually arrive. I think the altcoin should choose some technologies and marketing is reliable. This has a higher probability of profit.

This is a tragic for all altcoins. However, the whole market is in a green zone, including altcoins, but BTC has added around 1k USD to its price and all altcoins did maximum of 5 percent per coin which means, if dominance would not drop, it would be another hard year for all alts.
