Hi all,

I'm looking for a portable (as in portable apps portable) bitcoin client. I'm running the default one and would like to export my wallet into a portable client. Much easier to back up.

Any suggestions?

Cheers

I think bitcoin-qt can be used as portable client, you just need to run it with -datadir command line switch (make a .bat file or something) and it will work. It will be portable with the whole blockchain (about 8GB I think now), though.

An 8GB folder is too large for my purposes, but thanks anyway!

By portable, do you mean via a USB drive, or do you mean via a mobile device? There are some nice Android clients out there:

I particularly like that these mobile apps allow you to transfer Bitcoins using QR codes.

USB device for easy backup, also to online backup services such as SpiderOak.
