I am using Google Keyboard on a Nexus 6P with Breadwallet for Android with no problems.
Like I said, I'm fairly sure that breadwallet isn't against Google Keyboard as such, but it is simply because on my ROM (which isn't a nexus factory rom like I'm assuming you're running on your Nexus6P), the "system default" keyboard is AOSP... NOT Google.

I had to download Google Keyboard from the play store and install it. So Breadwallet deems this to be a "Bad Thig™" and refuses to work with it... it wouldn't matter if I was using Flexy or Swype or anything other addon keyboard.

Android already gives you warnings that addon keyboards can steal your data etc... and as long as a person is sensible about what they're doing, and trust the company that coded the keyboard, I don't see why Breadwallet should have an issue with it.

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

I thought this WAS bread wallet thread? But it seems breadwallet_dan just did a bit and run to advertise the Android version of bread wallet and then disappeared...  Undecided

No, this one is the main breadwallet thread (not sure why they created another one, there's already confusion with an additional thread where people seem to keep posting, instead of posting on the main one).

To be honest, I just don't think it is for me anyway... I dislike the bright white theme... I disagree with their stance on keyboards, which obviously isn't a "bug", but a deliberate design choice... I do like their warning about operating on a Rooted device... I'm not sure why the keyboard thing can't be a warning as well.

I still think it is a bug, as the app doesn't seem to be addressing the keyboard situation correctly.

Seems a bit like they're trying to bring iOS thinking and design to Android... which, imho, won't work...

This seems true. Fair enough Smiley Not everyone wants a bit of iOS thinking on Android...

Having a rooted device doesn't mean any old app can just auto install and steal all your data/bitcoins... first of all it has to get on your device, then you have to run it... then you have to grant it root permissions...

HCP this is incorrect. If your device fails the boot verification check (any rooted device should fail this check), then your funds are vulnerable to any malware that modifies the OS. Without boot verification you don't have any way to detect if the OS gets modified.

It may be a bug. It should only disallow custom keyboards when typing in your recovery phrase, since obviously this is extremely security critical and you don't want your keyboard remembering what you type and adding it to auto-complete or sending it to a cloud service for improve typing prediction. O.o You should be able to use any keyboard you want any other time. If that's not the case, please report to support@breadwallet.com, or submit an issue to https://github.com/breadwallet/breadwallet-android/issues
