Aside from bitcoin itself, I can't think of a more exciting project.

I've known about 3D printing for a while now, and this is completely remarkable.  The post-scarcity economy is just coming closer and closer and closer.  The industry is dying rapidly in every sect.  They thought the pirate bay was bad?  Now we can 'pirate', as one commenter said, "prosthetics for your child."  No more patent holder, no more laborers to put the fucking things together--now a machine can just make whatever it is your heart desires.

In other news, jobs will further decline, and these chains are ripe to come off once and for all Tongue

Edit:  They also accept crowd funding in bitcoins, if anyone wants to send a few their way.

Patents and "intellectual property" are incredibly stupid and poison for innovation. Just realize, how incomprehensibly inefficient and absurd our economic system still is, where planned scarcity (and planned obsolescence for goods) is possible. A result of corruption and wrong regulation.

It is ironic, that some of the value of bitcoin, besides of its functions, comes also from planned scarcity, due to the 21 mio coins limit. Smiley

Marx is probably rotating nervously in his grave, because of the possibility, that "the means of production" are in reach of the masses more then ever.

Well yeah, but with the eight decimal places it ends up being 2.1 quadrillion, right? I wouldn't worry about a lack of supply. Wink

As for Defcad, the first thing I thought of when I saw the name was "Defcad For Cutie?" Not sure why.

They give you a custom address after you enter your email and donation. Not sure why they changed it.

Looking forward to 3D-printed Food.  Sometime in the next 10 years?

They're already experimenting with it Grin  As long as it's left unhindered, it will flourish.  But Obama has already stated he wants to regulate it to death.  So who knows.
