because forums bulls hate this type of questions Tongue

He in some other thread claimed that he has "closed all his longs". Now he is trolling in hopes to affect the price. Try harder.

What's a panic sell?

If the price is going down, that's when I buy.

If there is something that will make Bitcoin succeed, it is growth of utility - greater quantity and variety of goods and services offered for BTC. If there is something that will make Bitcoin fail, it is the prevalence of users convinced that BTC is a magic box that will turn them into millionaires, and of the con-artists who have followed them here to devour them.

this is a very lengthy uptrend, so much so that many newcomers have only ever known the sunshine of the bull market, so when the real correction starts and the bear market is on us, they wont know it to see it, they will assume price will bounce back up like it always does after a very large sell off, after all, people will snap up the cheap coins right? only this time it sinks lower instead, and they wait... waiting for the price to recover... it will be interesting to see how low they let it go before they actually realise what is happening and get out.

winter is coming..

don't know when this will happen of course. so gl with that  Wink

I've made a greedy trade which cost me 5btc at $24, which could be classed as a "panic sell".
My stupid logic was as follows:

1.  I'm so sure BTC will rise a lot very soon, therefore I must get more BTC, at all costs!

2.  I have no fiat to buy more BTC.  I only have BTC.

3.  I must quickly sell some BTC, even though I am sure it's about to go up, in the delusional hope that it will go down and then up.

Luckily I only sold a small amount and bought back in quickly.  I was actually physically ill at the time which compromised my judgement but I'm not making the same mistake again!  Just posting this in case it spares some other rookie trader from doing the same thing... (Apart from this, rest of my judgements have been pretty good though!)

I look at it in this way.... I invested an X amount of money that I knew I could affort to lose...
right now, I'm making close to 800% in my return... so EVEN if there's a huge PANIC sell, it'll take a HELL of a sell for me to actually lose money.
The way I think of it is. My gain is not realized until I trade back to fiat (USD) so to me, the BTC I have is equivalent to my initial investment until I decide to cash out.
If I cash out, I would make 800% of my initial investment, but why would I? I have nothing to lose anymore, and maybe A WHOLE lot to gain.
I'm sure many people are in my position due to the increase in price so, the question is, why would anyone panic sell when there's people desperate to buy?

I first bought in at $14 dollars after the first high of $30+ . I panic sold at about $7.
There really is a point at which you cannot take it anymore.
The higher the price at which you buy into a rally (or a correction), the easier it is for panic to suddenly wake you up at 4 in the morning and make you behave in crazy ways.
Most of us bought in cheap, and we can relax for a while - but there will come a point when emotions take over and we wonder how we are going to feed our children tomorrow.

I can relax all the way to $20 and I will still be making 200%
Do yourself a favor, if you can't take the ups and downs, stop following bitcoin, come back in 1 or 2 years and take a look at the price again...

I bought back in at $3 more substantially and have already taken out my initial investment - so actually I'm with bitcoin for the long term now (I voted 0)

I guess this pool question is based it's on the assumption that the price will tell us when something bad happened to bitcoin fundamentals.

Even a successful 51% attack won't make it drop to 20$

You're going to have to pry these coins out of my cold dead hands before I sell.

Eh, I'll buy at each option on this poll  Smiley

Maybe panic sell arround 1000$, and not all those precious Wink

this is a very lengthy uptrend, so much so that many newcomers have only ever known the sunshine of the bull market, so when the real correction starts and the bear market is on us...

Serious correction ?  maybe from 300 to 100 !

Every time it goes up another $10 I panic and sell about 1% of my holdings. It's been a very panicy month!

LOL, that looks like Bear panic ( I'll add it's been a panicky year!)
The pole is aimed at the panic the short term Bulls are expected to feel.

IMHO the interesting observation with this poll is that 10% of the voters will "panic sell" (allready) at 65

This shows quite some nervosity. A week ago 65 was rather in the sky, and now it should be a reason to sell??

I sense a degree of contradiction is this thread. If you know the price at which you gonna panic sell, it's not a panic sale but stop loss.

Along the same line, if you are contemplating on the price you are going to panic, you are panicking and about to sell now!

interesting read however.
