Hi,

4JZPw53k1LckVDeBKyxa1WKTcWjESAn6nB

Also thinking of mining NVC on a Win32 PC. Any good large or mid size pools you can recommend?

Thx!

Already found some pools for NVC, no need to post.

Another question - What would be a good strategy for a small miner to help prevent the 51% attack with NVC?

My only guess is - mine as much as you can, but not in the largest pool. And, collect as many NVC as you can.
There is no possibility of hashrate-based 51% attack on NVC network, because protection is based on the Proof-of-Stake system.

But you are correct with the second part, many "small" holders are better for network in comparison with case of one big coins holder.

You still do not seem to understand the difference between centralized and decentralized cryptocurrencies.
Obviously not, because there is the difference between checkpointing and centralization. NVC and PPC networks are both has no central authority. There is no transactions control.

the simple concept of end-users being able to compile their own client that *disregards* any current checkpoints *should we wish*.
They are able to do anything what they want. UfaSoft Coin client has no broadcasted checkpointing support, for example. Also there will be an option to disable it in official client, but it still will be enabled by default.

No, I'm obviously not talking about double-spending your own coin.
Double-spend possibility it's the main measure and sign of centralization. If someone has ability to double-spend, then project should be perceived as centralized system. I.e. if there is a pool with more than 51% hashing power in BTC/FC/LTC/whatever, then this systems are centralized. It's quite simple.

Also, PoS 'fully' functional for the past 2 months?  Roll Eyes
Yes, and it's the main blocks source in the network, for now:

http://cryptocoinexplorer.com:6750/chain/Novacoin

I noticed you like rolling your eyes at people, so I thought I would pepper a few in for good measure... Perhaps something is getting lost in translation?
It's my usual gesture IRL, because of my work. I don't trust people, I trust math only. I prefer to be honest in that sense. Smiley

So in theory, you could disregard the PoS system entirely?  Very interesting. NVC has made some very nice improvements over PPC, in my opinion. I'm gonna send you a PM with another question/link, if you don't mind taking a look.

Thanks for the help!

Currently PoW provides less than 10% of network blocks rate. But maybe I'll implement some changes to PoW target calculation in the next releases, to make PoW share a little higher.

// The next giveaway sending will be performed today.

P.S. reading your PM again. Cheesy
