Instead of command-prompt based mining, is it possible to mine ETC through a web-browser just like to mine BTC via Bitminter? (Mining is as simple as just opening a web page and leaving it open. When you're done just transfer whatever you managed to mine to any of your accounts and close the page)

It's not a temporary pump, we are now not gonna go down back to $1.20. Hoping to see more pumps soon! Miners should be interested in mining ETC now instead of ETH, check WhatToMine.com, with same hardware system, you can get about 8% more earnings by mining ETC than ETH.

Mining profitability depends on many thing. Currently ETC and ETH produces almost same amount in $$. But hope ETC mining is more profitable if you just mine and hold it to sell later

You need a 2GB GPU to mine Ethereum & Ethereum Classic.  You could CPU mine Grosetlcoin.  That is as efficient to CPU mine as GPU mine and it is still profitable.  https://www.whattomine.com/  My rigs mine Ethereum Classic and Grosetlcoin as well.  Why not use that spare CPU power and get some extra coin?

If you have windows 64bit

Download ethminer here https://github.com/ethereum/webthree-umbrella/releases/download/v1.2.9/cpp-ethereum-windows-v1.2.9.exe  
and install it.

Make a .bat file in the same folder as "ethminer.exe"     i.e. "C:/Progrem Files/Ethereum 0.9.41/Release" folder
and put this following code in it.

setx GPU_FORCE_64BIT_PTR 0
setx GPU_MAX_HEAP_SIZE 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
ethminer.exe -F http://etc.nanopool.org:8888/put_your_address_here -G

and then run the .bat

This will get you mining at nanopool.  

to monitor your mining put this in your browser

I wonder it they RAID 5 your data across peers.  That would offer good security.
I will look into this further.  I have a spare volume of 1TB to play with on a machine with constant up time.

I don't see the word immutable on the front page any longer.  Since they haven't "yet" censored they can keep that on the page, but when core members make statements that if the "community" voted to censor they would.  So lets see how long before they make another fork that crosses more words off the "mission statement".

Doesn't the DAO hacker have access to their ETC since yesterday?  I have been waiting for the earth to quake, ETC to fall to negative numbers, and for Elvis to come out of hiding and announce he is running for President.... So far nothing, nada....  I double checked Polo this moring, pulled out a magnifying glass and no sign of the minus in front of ETC...  Hmmm, And I was really looking forward to Elvis winning the US election... 

Looking like yet another FUD event created by the ETHF is going to pass without anything happening.  Now if we can put pressure on the ETHF to force the return of the DAO funds THEY stole that are "unclaimed" we can get on with the business at hand without meddling by those that don't seem to care what immutable means.
