I don't see how's so difficult. Steam accepts payments, so Pokemon GO could accept payments too, at least to buy the actual Pokemon coins in exchange of BTC instead of fiat. Volatility is irrelevant since they automatically convert to fiat.

I would assume that if this gets done they would use a payment processor like Bitpay to manage the massive amount of transactions in a faster way just like Steam uses Bitpay too.

This game is a social phenomenon I have to give it that but I don't think Bitcoin will be a suitable match for it. First of all Apple and Google have their own payment solutions on their respective app markets and Bitcoin will be competing with their own payment apps. Also Nintendo is pretty strict when it comes to trading in-game items so even if the app stores somehow allow Bitcoin on the platforms Nintendo might just refuse adding it to the game.

I can feel you on that being dumb.  I agree that it would be better if the leveling system of pokemon go is the same as it was.  And it will really a killer combo if Bitcoin is integrated on that game.  You can imagine every kid of the new generation that know Pokemon will know about Bitcoin.  And that's a great promotion for Bitcoin awareness.  It will be beneficial for both Bitcoin and Pokemon enthusiasts.

This would be a great combination if they offer something like that. You will not just enjoy the game but will be able to earn bitcoin. There are many reasons proving otherwise:

1) Bitcoin is too volatile. And don't suggest something like BitPay, as that's basically instantly selling the BTC for Fiat at purchase, which is dumping into the market, not good.

2) Security issues. With all the DDoSes on their servers and greatest downtimes, anything can happen, from broken transactions to Go getting their private key stolen.

The only potential problem I see with that is that it is currently for all ages. Once money is being placed on winning a fight, it would probably be required to be over 18 years old. Maybe they could trick it by giving victory points that can be converted to nice prizes and bitcoin though.

I already have found a topic like this last month in bitcointalk.org. many have commented that it is a very interesting fact and possibly revolutionize the game and bitçoin usage. This will be hard. Think of the owner first. Why would I pick bitcoin as a means of payment if users want to buy premium items. One problem is users might take it as a hard part. First they will need to understand what is this currency. Second is they might say why not just dollar. They would want something that is internationally used.

Pokemon Go would potentially have some additional funds generated by accepting Bitcoin, but to be honest the player count is going to drop off pretty rapidly due to the lack of end-game content. I personally stopped playing because I'm not a completionist, and holding gyms is a worthless waste of time because they can be solo'd by someone else and building it up takes a long series of training the gym.

It honestly isn't fun, and if it had something to do with my Pokemon other than power, evolve and take gyms for 10 minutes, I might be more interested. Sadly that doesn't exist so far. True Player v Player battles will also likely never happen, or at least not for a long time, due to the lack of localization and a majority of things being client-side so far. Their games revolves around the Google Maps API and AI in gyms, and battles with other people looks a long ways away.

It's a fun game, don't get me wrong, but there just isn't enough to do at a point.

For me, all of that just like a dream...
It's possible to make a way of payment like google payment... but isn't a click you always need to put your amount or writing that. because basically the system is different and try to use it for one concept.

Ahaha, that's the most ridiculous way. Bitcoin can be obtained because it will not only play pokemon for pokemon don't accept bitcoin for various things about the game. You can only get bitcoin of pokemon, if you sell your Pokemon account or provide services to users of the bitcoin

it is definitely not going to happen at least not any time soon and most probably not in this game, bitcoin is still not a huge thing so they wont pay a lot of attention to it

Well I played around with a Chicken faucet last night, where you walk around in a 3D world and you pick up coins,  it was very basic but fun to do. I can just imagine porting this idea into Google maps and walking around in the real world, picking up Satoshi's.

Just now checked the faucet. Chicken offers: 50 (75%), 100 (24%), 500 (1%) Satoshis for every dispense you claim. Average is currently ~67 Satoshis. Claim a new dispense every 120 minutes!

Around 67 Satoshis every 120 minutes??? Sounds like a joke to me.

That would be a not so good idea because if you can earn bitcoin like that then the bitcoin value will drop as players could just grind out alot of them. So many people play pokemongo that bitcoin would be overflowed and be worthless.

Am I the one whe never tried to play this game? haha But I think it would be really a good combo if the game would be with payment by bitcoins. Not just Pockemon Go, any popular game would be. I even heard there is the Snake game with bitcoins.

I think for pokemon it is too late.
The hype about it is already going down, but I am sure another game is already being programmed that will fill that gap.
All it would take is one bigger company to implement bitcoin as a payment system.
Maybe even with the option to trade goods amongst the users (with a little fee for the company, of course).
That would be something a lot of people could not resist, even if the game itself would not be something they usually do not play.

I have been testing it out and it's still very stages but you can tell the game has huge potential if they add more stuff, like more complex battle system with turns instead of just tapping on the screen which is pretty dumb and so on.

But the great thing would be to get BTC instead of those coins. Also being able to buy stuff with BTC (you can already do with fiat but not BTC).

I hope that we can see BTC in games like this. Imagine the extra incentive of getting BTC and not only Pokemons.

Yes right thought, we have another scope in bitcoin world. During leisure we could play game parallely we could make some money for us. That's a good sorry best COMBO . I hope more interesting and thia type of game to be launched next. So that playing game would not be only for time pass but for earning money.

I don't like the idea of mixing money and games together, Any player knows how annoying it is to get or buy a pro account for few dollars when a player takes months to make and the people forgetting the purpose of the game and just going online buying tools rather than playing, I like getting bitcoin mixed in things but I don't know if it will take the purpose of the game.

Pokemon Go and Bitcoin would surely be a killer combo. People would be able to earn money while playing their favorite game since childhood. The only problem in this is the funds and the fact that it'll be spammed by a lot of users. Who will fund it? The PokemonGo company? I don't think so, they made this app to earn money that's why there's an in-App purchases.

Let's just say that somebody, let's call him "Mr. X", funded this project, users would surely find a trick to bug this. Even now, there's already a Bot in pokemonGo. People would just either use a Bot or a fake GPS to earn money. Mr X surely did just donated his money to whoever knows how to use a bot or a fake GPS, this people basically is everyone.

There are several projects runing with the pokemon, since the begining of the pokemon go all people went play those, its viral, i do hope bitcoin found something soo exited as those, but instead hunt pokemon, let the people hunt for bitcoins.

First, you would not be able to get BTC so quickly. Also, with the current DDOS attacks they face, security would be a concern.
Second, BTC is volatile. They can't risk losing lots of invest on a currency that goes down tomorrow.
Third, They need a good trusted wallet for each user. It all sums up being very complex.

Pokemon go is so popular at the moment and if it wold be able to combine it self with Bitcoin somehow Bitcoins popularity would go trough the roof.
People would then think what is this Bitcoin and look it up on the internet, that is where it begins.
