Not only that the DAO attacker owns over 10% of ETC. Expect a bloodbath when he dumps.
All old ETH holders have the sama amount of ETC (apart from the DAO loosers). They could make a bloodbath when they dump... or not. Why would they kill their own property ? Losers not loosers!! Because ETH has higher value? So if you have a car and a bicycle, you decide to crash your bicycle because the car has greater value ?

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

I only need 1 mode of transport at any point of time and the car is the fastest most comfortable and luxurious. In other words, why would I cycle to Blockchain Ville when I could drive there 6 times faster!?!!

If the bitcoin has two chains, people will not use that and they have to worry about teh relay attack.

The point is, you don't care ! Your contract can run on both. Hey, you could even debug the DAO, and run it again on ETC :-) It was open source ;-)

If immutability is a desired attribute, ETC is the only choice. If you want to make a too-big-to-fail contract which is (given sufficient Proof-of-Vitalik) eligible for troubled asset relief, go with the Bailout Edition.

The whole point of smart contracts is that the code will do as it's programmed. And that is exactly what happened with the "DAO hack", the code did as it was coded. Everything else is not a smart contract. They broke the concept of smart contract by going bailout over it. If a smart contract contains code that didn't do what you expected, it's your fault for using that smart contract/the coder's fault for coding it that way. Hard forking over this absolutely defeats the point.
