How many posts do you need in order to use the forum?

5, and 4 hours online iirc.

Like many things, I seem to be late to the party, but the more I read about bitcoins the more I like it. A little bumpy, but a lot of potential.

Looks like this is my...

I registered so that I could reply to MtRed closing thread in the Pools forum to tell RedditRex that I loved MtRed as a pool, thought he did a great job, and to wish him the best.   I'm a bit bummed about this 4-hour waiting period though.

I've been casually following Bitcoin for a few years and today I've finally decided to get an account and learn more.

that 4 hr wait thing is false, if u are not focused on window here, it does not count your online time at all, i am here for past 10 hrs but i was working too so this window was not in focus, i now see the forum only says 2hr 43 mins in total.. What a shame. it has not counted my total time at all.

Hey, all,

I like the  Idea of Bitcoin but trying to convince my butcher to accept it might be going to far.

So, here I am, all I wanted to do is ask some questions about how mining pools work, like how does the system work (you, your hashes, the server, bandwidth between client server, what "shares" are, whats the difference between a share and a hash, how does the system prove your work to get your share in the pools block, etc, etc...).

Yeah there is a search function, but you have to be specific with your words, and if you don't know what words to search for (eg, search "Proof of work" you get 90% back with "of" and net"work" the 1st 2 has proof in it, but doesn't cover what I want.)

so, time to sit back, buckle up and ride the wait train outa here!

Hi, y'all.

Super newb, here.  I didn't even know what a bitcoin was until earlier this week when I stumbled across a thread about the recent price run-up.  The mining aspect sounded appealing, in a geeky sense, and I've been mining for over two days now!

I've got a mid-range gaming (Oculus Rift) rig that sits mostly un-used, so it's nice to see it (slowly) doing something semi-useful for a change.

I have some questions about driver versions and such, but I'll try to find a more appropriate spot to ask them.
