Hey. NoOb.  Don't know much about BC, figure I'll learn as I go along.  If I ask a stupid question it won't be the first time I've done it, and far from the last.  I like Pina Coladas and taking walks in the rain.  Hell, I never know what to say in intro threads.  Undecided

Hello everyone!

I am grubles, cofounder of the newly formed Bitcoin service: BTCVPS. BTCVPS is a brand-new provider specializing in Virtual Private Servers, Virtual Private Networks, Shell Accounts, and IRC Bouncers along with new features being planned right now.

Naturally, we will be accepting Bitcoin. Being based in the continental US, we aim to provide exceptional service by enabling our customers to be in constant contact with us if they need a question asked or need a problem solved. We have a strong presence in IRC on the Freenode server and are trusted in the OTC Web of Trust. Just connect to Freenode and query user grubles for any question you need asked or you can email me at grubles-at-btcvps.net.

1. Why don't you have an automated sign up/ purchase system that generates the VPS?
2. Do you have a control panel for managing the VPS?
3. What are your ToS?
4. Am I allowed to run a CPU miner an max out all available CPU cycles? :p

1. We're still working on our automated purchasing/billing system. For now you can just email us or hop on freenode and query me if you want a VPS.

2. We plan on having remote consoles and DNS setup in a control panel.

3. We will have our TOS up shortly.

4. No.

Seriously though, I actually wish some of the other forums I participate on would implement a rule like this 5 post/4 hour rule.  It gets pretty old having spam and trolls take over a forum..

Hello everyone,

Hello.

I am byte. I've been getting interested in Bitcoins for a while now, and I figured I'd join to learn more. I'm interested in learning how to anonymously procure bitcoins, as well as learning more about the market and economics behind it.

Hi friends, my name is fourd00rgtz and I have a problem....

I'm obsessed with computers, so much so that I build them to sit and do calculations all day. I started off in a charity thing called Folding @ Home from Stanford University, I started by running it in the background of my desktop when I wasnt using it. Soon I joined a team and became competitive. Then I added hardware, Overclocked and left it on 24/7. The bedroom became warm, the fans hummed away and I was helping cure Cancer. Then I got a job, earned money and was still interested in building computers. I started to build machines for "folding" and folding alone. I'd put them in the basement so the heat/noise was of little concern, through google I taught myself linux because it was x% faster at folding, my points were climbing Smiley

Then my dealer introduced me to Bitcoin, and I suddenly had a better (ehem, selfish) reason to run machines 24/7. So I consolidated all my F@H machines into a single powerhouse and started bitcoin mining. So far I've only been hitting up the blockchain for 2.5Gh/s, but couldnt help myself in the recent firesales. I'm expanding, I'm enlarging the farm, I'm blowing circuitbreakers in my condo left right and center (mostly cuz of the A/C that has to run 24/7) I have more Gh/s sitting waiting to be built into rigs then I care to admit, I need to make friends with an electrician Smiley

/end AA intro  Grin
/end lurker mode since June
/end newbie status (soon I hope)

I recently read about bitcoin in a maximum PC magazine. I wanted to see what my PC is able to do... I understand you can make money doing this? Anyhow. I digress; I enrolled with the forum to learn about it and see where my system ranks.

I intend to begin with reading, as the information page mentioned... I'll post more if I stay interested in the forums.

Thanks

hi everyone! My name is Robert and I'm new to bitcoins. These are the most interesting things I have ever heard of. I am currently running the bitcoin program trying to get my computer to figure out one of these block sets here.  I have recently started trying to mine in a pool at deepbit.net.  i have downloaded and tried to set up ufasoft's cpu miner to start out but i have not been able to figure out how to get it running.  after i start it up the command prompt just stays at 0 MHash/s and there are no "workers" connected on my profile at deepbit...  has anyone else had this problem? I'm not even sure if I am logged into my account at the pool.  Any help would be appreciated as I have been scouring the forums for a relevant post and have not been able to find anything... I'm not even too sure what I am reading most of the time heh..  Thanks everyone!

Well, I haven't made a formal introduction yet, so hello everyone. My name is (something) and I am pathologically obsessed with Bitcoin. I'm from the UK and hope for more exchanges for me and other UK-er's could use with minimal hassle. I've mostly used Intersango who I've been very pleased with.
