Don't know which section could be suitable for this thread but i would like to get suggestion of forum members on things they like to have in local bitcoin community site.

I am planning to run one site to support bitcoin community here in Nepal which is growing rapidly in recent days and demand for bitcoin is getting high.

Post what you think should be needed in site, i am thinking of adding;

1. homepage with info about what is bitcoin in local language with video imbedded as well as all link to contact, about us, team etc.
2. A blog section from where i will keep on addding new article in both english as well as nepali language and regular social media promotion.
3. A forum small one to discuss about bitcoin in local scenario.
4. Buying and selling bitcoin for local fiat (in small amount) because i haven't got any registered company here.
5. Your suggestion on how to monetize my viewers from the website, additionally i am thinking of running youtube channel, twitter handler as well as facebook page for promotion.

Your all types of suggestion are welcome.

Rough guess, this belongs in Project Development.

>You have already mentioned all the things which would be needed to setup a basic site.Maybe start implementing it ?
>Know the market.Do you think Nepal has enough bitcoiners who'd buy bitcoins with fiat ? Are paypal/skrill can be used as the payment methods to buy bitcoins ?
>Does your government allow anyone to open an exchange ? A lot of more things needs to checked before fiat->bitcoin implementation on your blog.
>Monetizing could be done in ways, depends on the traffic from your country.
>Code the site in your native language ,keep it dedicated for your audience only.

Thanks for your suggestion however there are no any merchants that is accepting bitcoin as payment method. But i am also thinking of providing merchant service with margin in price of bitcoin but that will be after i register company here.

There is no any clear explanation about bitcoin as currency or not, here in our law, so i think there will be no restriction to provide bitcoin service here.

I should suggest monetizing your forum and rewarding people who participates... this can also be funded by advertisers. You attract people to your site.. when you give them opportunities to earn

rewards. I moderated a site for a while, where the forum owner did this, and it grew quickly. The incentive was the reward... and the reward for the site owner was the increase in it's membership.

In the beginning this will cost you some money, but after a while you will start to profit from it. Good luck... the beginning stages are a bit rough.  Roll Eyes

If you're doing something like that, wouldn't you get a lot of low value posts?
I think it might be a good idea but also make some clear rules about this and invest in local advertising, targeted at people from Nepal, maybe through Adwords or Facebook.

In general, your idea is pretty good, but you do need to put a lot of effort in and get it ready as fast as possible, meaning that you don't want to present your users with a service that is only half ready.
And like Joel said, look into the legality of the exchange part of your website.

its a complete list that you can thinking and the next thing is implement and starting the project. my suggestion is do not take too much ads from third party because its annoy and make visitor gets bored. make it fast loading even for small internet connection.

you can start to make a group on facebook and start to inviting people or your friend first, tell them your project and you need their support, make a video about whats you and your team do for that project, after all is set, them you can start thinkhing about optimization on search engine.

That is crap.No famous forums or blogs have given any opportunities  by paying people to participate. The paid crowd would be there just for the money.no intention of activley promoting your site.If the website is actually useful, you will get the traffic automatically. No need to invest to get active members.

rewards. I moderated a site for a while, where the forum owner did this, and it grew quickly. The incentive was the reward... and the reward for the site owner was the increase in it's membership.
Depends.A forum like bitcointalk without paid members to be active is much ahead of all the other bitcoin related forums where the admins literally pay people to be active.
The content is everything.

In the beginning this will cost you some money, but after a while you will start to profit from it. Good luck... the beginning stages are a bit rough.  Roll Eyes
That's a bad idea.He can invest funds in SEO and black hat marketing or keyword stuff.Works out best when you want a country specific traffic.

Good idea, localization is pretty important. Getting the word out and educating folks about bitcoin is a never ending journey.

3. A forum small one to discuss about bitcoin in local scenario.

Hmmmm you might just want to re-direct them BCT, if there's not a language that matches, post in the Meta board here and suggest adding one, maybe you could be the Mod of that sub-forum  Cool

Good idea, not sure what the laws are there, but consider getting on localbitcoins as well to help get people connected with you there.

This is where you went off course... Trying to monetize this kind off thing is very rough, it leads to an undesirable destination.  The youtube channel wouldn't be bad idea if you localize it to the area you're in and advertise it.  Get supporters from your community and start there.

Really? Could you provide some figures? I like to see how the Bitcoin community worldwide is growing!

I have posted an idea here which could be implemented into your app.
