Nothing is guaranteed. By using the ticket you are entering a poker tournament, in which only first 3 places get rewarded.
Rewards are something in range of about 1st place 125 mBTC, 2nd place 75 mBTC and 3rd place 50 mBTC

You DO need to have some poker skill to win, but there isn't much people participating, mostly there are something like 10 people or so, afaik.

He can also play it without skills, he may just register then sit out and wait for the other players beaten by 1-2 players earlier then he may finish on 3rd . It is not recommended though, if he do not know about poker so its better for him to learn to play poker for 1-3days before using the 250GTD ticket.

Yes, online tutorials can be helpful for anything, but sometimes, we need to go through the motions of actual application with small amounts of value in order to really cause our techniques to sink in and to really learn from our techniques. 

Personally, I think that we have to weigh strategies that could work for us by employing very small amounts in the beginning until we get the hang of it - like for example the minimum amount that is acceptable. 

I employed a similar strategy in trading BTC - and I would frequently get criticized for spending a lot of time on trading very small amounts (close to the minimum) and not making any money.. which was true, but as I got better and better and reviewed my results and continued to tweak my strategies, little by little I increased my amounts.. and continue to learn, too.

i think youtube tutorial only teach the basic part of poker. but the real strategy is not  the same every game. it always have a different scenario every round so the best tactics is to adapt quickly on the flow of the game and observe carefully the behaviour of your opponent. especially to the flopper type oppenent. you must be aware on them. they always pisses me. hahha
