Hi all,

Its is sad to see that after so many years, still a user has to go through various different sites like https://bitcoinfees.github.io/ , http://bitcoinfees.21.co/ to understand why his tx is unconfirmed. Then also the information on these sites is so technical, that the user would rather do a post on reddit.

So we need an alternative to bitcoinfees. Here are the features:

  • User will input a txid, and the website will tell estimated time / simple reason why its not confirmed
  • Reasons can be low fee / spending an unconfirmed input from a low fee tx
  • Will also suggest a possible solution ... wait or construct a RBF transction
  • A graphical UI showing the estimated place of the tx in queue / network congestion

Why it will be better

  • Open source and less resource intensive
  • Written in python
  • Better user interface
  • Better prediction rate. I am not sure how to do this maybe we need a better statistical model

Let me know your suggestions. If you can contribute to UI design / programming feel free to pitch in.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.
