What I mean:

If I run Armory with the option to launch Bitcoin Core manually and do so, I see the interface, can operate a wallet.dat file I have there.

Could I do that, while using Armory or is it not recommended for a reason?

Thanks guys!

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

Certainly.

If you aren't the sole controller of your private keys, you don't have any bitcoins.

Armory runs of top of Bitcoin Core so having Core running is essential.
