Because the OP updated the thread that both parties have come to an agreement on what amount of payment will be paid even with the 5% interest. Check the previous page or the post I quoted below.

Well, accepting only 0.02 BTC after almost eight years is mighty generous of you. Turning a $359 profit on an eight year loan is much smaller than sticking with your original terms of 5%, even non-compounded, interest a day, which would have yielded 2.133 BTC after 2,844 days, which is ~$77,000 at current prices.
