Hi Everyone,

Thanks for reading. I have about a weeks worth of research into Bitcoin, and I decided to try my hand at mining some Litecoins.

I want to know if I'm doing it right. I downloaded Litecoin 0.6.3 and it says it is synchronizing. So far I'm at 10%

Then I went into Mining, Clicked Start for "Solo Mining"...and I don't think anything is happening.
At the bottom it says mining Litecoins at 0 Hashes per second.

What do you think  I'm doing wrong?

Thank you

You need to download the full blockchain to 100% before you can mine.

This is because you need the last block in the chain to mine from.

I had the same problem and then I found this article in this forum -

Before this I found out I needed the app minerd.exe and downloaded it per instructions from ltc pool mining sites. For solo mining the above link was much easier.

Hope this helps and best of luck!

Sorry to trouble you but what is the point of what you just posted? I say that with respect, I'm confused.

I thought I could just download Litecoin-QT and mine inside there?

Remember, you are also just solo mining LTC at this point if using the Litecoin-QT client - and that is like playing the lottery. Especially with low hashes, there is no point in solo mining. It will take you 2-3 months if you're lucky to find a single block, and get 50 LTC out of it. You could have 50 LTC faster if you pool mine Smiley
