So, I just did all the naming and stuff recommended, but that doesn't have any affect on the work that I did previously, I imagine.  One is still credited?
It's just odd now because it's about 24 hours and not seeing anything that looks like progress on the screen, which is odd for mining.  Usually one knows exactly what one is earning, even if it's barely nothing.

I think it helps a coin to grow for the thread to encourage the newbies that are attracted to it.  I realize that it's not particularly self-interest but then maybe it is.

If we had RPC access, then we could write a GPU miner in any language. There are OpenCL bindings for Delphi, but there'd be no need to use them.

Not having a public GPU miner doesn't mean people aren't GPU mining, it just means that a select few have an unreasonably significant advantage over the entire remainder of the network. To throw some numbers around, one high-end GPU could probably quadruple the entire network's current hash rate. This means that if someone wanted to attack the network, they just need to write a GPU miner and run it on a ~$150 card.

It is kind of interesting have a bird's eye view of these alt coins trying to take off.  You expect only uber geeks to understand what's going on, and only a small percentage of people will bother answering questions.

Most don't know what's going on. They just want GPU mining because they likely have a few or a bunch of GPUs. Once it becomes to hard to CPU mine, if it ever does, I am sure the dev will create an instance for GPU mining. At this stage CPU is still fine. A few months down the road though who knows. I like the concept, enjoy helping the network and collecting coins. Be it with CPU or eventually GPU. Still looking to buy more coins as well in case people don't check the buy and sell thread back on page 22. Still paying .000015 BTC per Pascal coin. Must have proof of coins in your wallet.

I just think this whole interface is completely user unfriendly.  One has to be very knowledgeable about mining for the miner to make sense, but it's exactly what people need today, a standalone CPU software browser in Windows.

I agree. The wallet isn't very simplistic and generally doesn't look very appealing.
