Hi all,

I’m having trouble figuring out why my sapphire pulse 5700 xt is failing to flash/read rom. Weirdly, I was able to flash 8 of the same cards successfully. I tried to flash 1 more and both times gave me the error above.l.

I’ve tried:

-DDU to uninstall and reinstall drivers
-Connecting the GPU directly to mobo’s x16 slot
-Using different risers
-Using atiflash293plus
-Using atiflash normal
-Using  -AtiFlash -unlockrom 0 -Leaving only 1 GPU plugged in -Using different file paths for AtiFlash folder
- clean install windows 10
I’m not sure what do to at this point, anyone have any ideas?

Are you using the same modified bios to flash on all the cards, or did you modify each individual card's stock bios then flash it on to that specific card?  Because if you modified one bios and used that one to flash on the other cards, you may need to modify the stock bios of the card that is giving you the error and then flash that modded bios on that specific card.

Unlock the rom on Windows. Use hiveos to flash the GPU. The only solution.

Here s my instructions:

STEP 1:
-Download and install AMD RX 5700 XT Windows 10 x64 Driver. Reboot the computer.
-Save the original BIOS of the GPU via TechPowerUp GPU-Z v2.34.0

STEP 2:
-Run RBE v1.0.6and click LOAD button.
-Select the original bios file.
-Go to VRAM Timings TAB.
-Delete 1800 MHZ, 2000 MHz and 2250 MHZ timings areas.
-Copy 1550 MHz timing and paste it to 1800 MHZ, 2000 MHz and 2250 MHZ timings areas.
-Save the edited bios file.

STEP 3:
-Run RBE v1.0.6and click LOAD button.
-Select the edited bios file.
-Go to VRAM Timings TAB.
-Select second Memory Type.
-Delete 1800 MHZ, 2000 MHz and 2250 MHZ timings areas.
-Copy 1550 MHz timing and paste it to 1800 MHZ, 2000 MHz and 2250 MHZ timings areas.
-Save the edited bios file.
-Now, copy this edited file into the "293plus" folder.

STEP 3:
-Move "293plus" folder to the C directory.
-Run CMD as administrator.
-Type "cd C:\293plus" in CMD screen and press ENTER button.
-Type "amdvbflash.exe -unlockrom 0" in CMD screen and press ENTER button.
-You will see "ROM Unlocked" message.
-Type "amdvbflash.exe -f -p 0 Edited_2.rom" in CMD screen and press ENTER button.
-Wait for a little while. You will see Restart System To Complete VBios Update." message.
-Restart computer to finish the progress.
-All done !

After you unlock the rom if you see error messages, just use hiveos to flash the GPU.
But you have to unlock the rom before flashing.

Thanks for posting these steps, but I am getting hung up on your instruction:

-Type "amdvbflash.exe -unlockrom 0" in CMD screen and press ENTER button.

I've meticulously followed your instructions, but here I am getting the error:

"'amdvbflash.exe' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file."
  Undecided
I find this file nowhere on my computer, even though I have installed the AMD RX 5700 XT Windows 10 x64 Driver. What can I do to get "amdvbflash.exe" as a recognized file?

I finally found a copy of amdvbflash.exe and installed it. I copied the modified rom into the same folder as amdvbflash.exe. I succeeded in unlocking the GPU. However, when I try to flash the modified rom, even though I have carefully created the modified file following your instructions, I get this error:

-f option not supported in external version of the tool. Please refer to tool help for list of option supported
Old SSID: 5701
New SSID: 5701
BIOS authentication signature mismatched.

   ERROR: 0FL01

Any suggestions on how I can flash the modified BIOS?

EDIT and UPDATE: I was able to resolve my issue by using a DIFFERENT version of amdvbflash.exe, a so-called "plus" version (see: Flash Tool 3.04+ Win), which I downloaded linked from this page (scroll to near the bottom):

https://www.igorslab.de/en/red-bios-editor-and-morepowertool-adjust-and-optimize-your-vbios-and-even-more-stable-overclocking-navi-unlimited/3/

This version let me avoid the errors I was receiving.

This YouTube video confirms the issue and explains the workaround:
