I have a dell precision with a dual Xeon 5600. When I tried to mine ZEC with nhqminer, I was barely doing 12S/s for 150Watts. This was a week after Zcash launch, maybe updated versions of the CPU miner can do better now but I doubt it (can someone confirm?). Other than that, I wouldn't waste my time with a power hungry Xeon...unless you have free electricity.

12 Solutions per second. A single AMD 390X does 150S/s. With 1000S/s you can expect ~0.01 Zec every 1h to 1h30 so with 12 you'd do...something like 0.0001 ZEC/hour. Not worth it unless, again, you have free juice.

12 Solutions per second. A single AMD 390X does 150S/s. With 1000S/s you can expect ~0.01 Zec every 1h to 1h30 so with 12 you'd do...something like 0.0001 ZEC/hour. Not worth it unless, again, you have free juice.

It had been a long time since i last mined altcoins, but i had 2 spare dedicated boxes laying around and tested ZEC mining. Since we're talking about CPU mining, my servers had these CPU's:
1 x Xeon(R) CPU E3-1245 V2
1 x Xeon(R) CPU Dual L5420

The combined hashrate of 16 cores is around 30 S/s. the E3-1245 gets about 23 S/s, the L5410 around 7 S/s

When I was cpu mining zec, other than the Xeon, I tested these:

1st gen i7 : 18S/s
4th gen low tdp i3 : 6S/s
5th gen low tdp i5 : 8S/s
From a virtual machine running on an Asrock C2750 1.4S/s

Yup, at least from what I was able to test, I have stopped CPU mining about 5 days after zec launch. Note this is for ZEC only, I don't know how it performs on other coins.

If I build a mining rig with 4 GPU- R9 390 I get 600 Sol/s and that's it 0.04 Zec per hour or almost 1 zcash per day. My cost of energy (through some friends is cheaper than my country) and I think 4 R9 390 don't need more than 1200-1400 watt.

Sounds like is quite some profitable or isn't it ?

I was mining ZEC solo, just for fun with Dual Xeon L5640
And the best hashrate I was able to achive with tromp solver was 15 Sol/s
If you have server like this, its better to run a pool, or something similar.

It appears the guy above with 1 R9 390 was wrong. I did 600 H/s in the cryptocompare website and I see that daily is 0.075 zcash after removing power draw so it's about roughly 6 USD daily with 4 graphic cards R9 390. It appears it's not correct that you get 0.04 zec per hour or 1.5 hour with only 1 R9 390.

Any way, for the time being, it is more profitable to mine the Etheruem than the ZCash. The difficulty is too high.

Any way, for the time being, it is more profitable to mine the Etheruem than the ZCash. The difficulty is too high.

not really, with amd it's better to mine zcash or zclassic, profit is a bit better with zcash while consuming less, we are talking about 0.022 for zcash/classic per day with a rig of 6 gpu against ethereum 0.017

Dude what are you talking about? Read my post again, nobody said 0.04/hour with a 390.

My 2 390X do 354S/s combined (or H/s) with the latest claymore (they could probably do a bit more, but they are underclocked/volted a bit).

I'm currently at 1400S/s with 3 rigs which brings me something like 0.2 - 0.22 ZECs a day on flypool. Sometimes I mine 0.01 in 48 minutes, sometimes in 2 hours.

to make 0.04 per hour, you'll need something that pushes the 4000H/s!

My main goal is profitability = W/Hs (less is better)
Previously I was at .97 W/Sols
I am now at .95 W/Sols

To Undervolt I would loose efficiency and hashrate.  I also get more Hs and no Errors/Rejects!  Very Stable as well.  This is with Claymore's v6.0
