I know someone who used to smoke packs and packs of cigarettes and decided to quit. He slowly started quitting by buying amd building his e-cig that emits vapor from oil-based liquids with flavors and controlled amounts of nicotene. It helped my friend a lot and now he glows better than ever. He started going to the gym and became a health buff. Quitting should start slowly so try what he did.

Duuude, you need to read a couple of medical articles on the dependence on smoking. It is impossible to stop smoking immediately in one day (especially if you have been smoking for 7 years), the body can not physically do it. When I quit smoking, I gradually replaced ordinary cigarettes with electronic cigarettes.

i would say if you are occasional smoker then its ok but if you think you are professional smoker you should be give up. Actually smoking is bad habit it would be better to leave that habit as soon as possible and people can save their  money also ..

I didn't know where to post this, in off-topic or here, sry if I was wrong.

So I've been a smoker for the past 7 years and I got sick of it, and not jsut because it's unhealthy but because most of my money goes out for cigarettes, so I've decided to quit all that.

Today is my first day without a smoke and it's starting to get rough a little. I won't lie, my will power ain't that strong so now I've started meditating more that usual (whe I feel an urge to smoke) and started painting to take my mind off of that.

Has anyone here quit smoking or trying to right now. What are your experiences and what did you find to help you the most?

Is it better to just stop smoking rather than getting sick, have trouble with people when they get sick? they just stop. Hopefully they will first think of what happens when you try to do bad things, like smoking. It would have been better if they had not made cigarettes for their use, it was too late or because many people were still stubborn or obsessed with smoking cigarettes every hour or even that day. Hopefully when they stop smoking they should never go back so they can not repent later Smiley.

Congratulations. Getting to the point of actually stopping is an achievement. I had my last smoke 2008/09 after having smoked for 20 years, and pretty heavily.

...and everyone has their own journey on the road to quitting.

It took me several failed attempts to get through the first 6 weeks. After that I was less inclined to light one up every time I thought of it....and I did think about it all the time at first. It was just never far from my thoughts at first, like splitting up from a long term lover! Honestly though, you'll get to a few months and realise you haven't thought about it for a whole day!!!

Personally, I started an exercise class which made me feel like I was focusing on something positive and I could see the effects each week of going and having not smoked. I can now run 10k without too much trouble - that's amazing for me!!

I had read books on how to quit, which helped to reflect back to some of the advice at difficult times. (Allen Carr)

Just keep thinking you want to be kind to yourself. And maybe treat yourself after a week/month of not smoking.

I also used patches, inhalator and gum at the end. I stayed with the gum decreasing bit by bit for several months until i went on to regular chewing gum. It does help to replace it with something. Don't listen to anyone saying you should have given up all these things by now...it's your journey and your body so tell them to butt out.

Oh, and for the first couple of months, I didn't go out at all. I knew as soon as I had a drink I would want to smoke so I just made it easier for myself and stayed in. The first time you do go out and come back "clean" is a good feeling!

You will have much more energy week on week once you get over the tough patch.

Finally, don't quit trying to quit. Honestly, your mind will try to trick you in all kinds of way like justifying why you need one or why you should wait until the "right time" but if you do have a smoke once you've decided to quit, don't see it as a failure, just get back on that wagon and ride off into the smoke-free sunset Wink

It's the best thing you can ever do for yourself...Good Luck Smiley

Everything depends on each person. You can smoke for 10 years, but then abruptly for one day to stop realizing that every new cigarette destroys your body.

Quitting smoking is very hard to do. People who smoke are cannot stop smoking due to there body needs. They are depend on cigarette every day that's why quitting smoking have to do a lot of things. They have to make step by step plans on they can quit smoking.

Good luck in your journey! I myself have been trying to quit but I always lapse back after a week or month. The longest I had without smoking was 2 months. The stress from school and home really triggers it sometimes. Although I've reduced to smoking a stick or two per day.

2 weeks after i cold turkey'd it i tried to have a cigarette while i was at the casino. casino + cigarettes is like coffee + cigarettes to me.

i felt like a kid all over again trying them for the first time. i threw up so much while i was there and got so sick. that has helped me to not want to smoke anymore too haha.

It is far easier to stop smoking Marijuana than to stop smoking cigarettes, due to the fact that it is highly addictive. The more you smoke, the more you find it hard to stop,

Yes should people quit smoking because smoke is giving a pain in out self and it is a cause of cancer so that we shall stop smoking because if we start smoke they is one of our addiction.

I recommend nicotine gum highly. It will help with cravings and is extremely safe to use.

Four years off the smokes now, ecig really helped a lot.

I tried numerous times, and always had the cravings for the nicotine.

I can gladly now say, I do not smoke, after thirty or so years of inhaling all that rubbish.
Was a lot easier using an e-gig.

By the way if you you start on e-cigs remember to reduce your levels over time, but as some flavors are really nice, I have a puff now and again, no harm in this, and its a lot more pleasurable.
I have seen my brother use tobacco cigarettes before. Some years later he decided to quit and switched to a healthy alternative. That is the e cig. At first we still disagree because we want him to quit entorely on any cigarette form but lo and behold. Ecig is way better than tobacco because of less chemicals and it also emits a pleasant vapor. You can cuatomize your build in it. Even control the level of nicotine and the flavor to use.
