Recently I have been looking to get into mining as a hobby, and got lots of help from nice people on this forum. so was thinking to buy either antminer R4 or S9 or just build a GPU rig.. and I don't want this "hobby" to be useless due to electricity cost and difficulty.. and how many days/months i can run it before i need a hardware upgrade due to difficulty?
where I'm from the electricity cost is $0.06 so is this cost considered good and wont turn into a loss on long run if i run 2 antminers R4 or 2 S9?

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the
subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The
subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

That cost is very good. Generally anything under $0.10/Kwh is considered good. I suggest that you get the S9.

If you really want to go and start mining at this point (which I personally wouldn't recommend due to all the additional hassle involved with heat and noise), I would go with the S9.
The power price is good so you will be able to turn a profit for quite some time. It won't make you rich, but you should be able to ROI of the miners.
Do you have a dedicated space where you can place the miners? A nice and cool basement for instance?

Very good , then you can just start mining as soon as you buy the S9 , or else if you want to test the mining process you can start with GPU mining of Altcoin , because nowadays their are lot of new coins are coming in the market you can start mining some of the coins and as soon as it hits the exchange you can start to trade or sell. But chose wisely which coins is worth to mine.

As i read electricity cost is low which its really good to mine bitcoin, If im to choose i would go to S9 as other say that you must a proper place to put those rigs and have must a proper ventilation and a cool place. You would surely gain ROI in 2-3 months i guess. Lastly i havent heard about r4. lol

It would even be better for mining if you lived in a climate that does not require you to heat your house in the winter months.

Ok seem nice room and nice cost of electricity to start. Better buy S9 which is latest and if you can afford it, it may turn out to be profitable for you. When you start mining, don't forget to post your daily or weekly stats.

Than you buy directly in the main site..

Thanks for your replies... yes i have an empty room kinda isolated and has Air Condition running always. The possible hidden cost, would be that the Air Conditioning units will have to work a little harder to keep the place cool, due to the additional heat being generated as a result of these miners being introduced in this area. This increase have to be factored in, once you worked out what that difference is. It will be marginal, but it is still some extra costs that you did not have before. You said this exercise is just for a hobby, so the additional cooling cost might not be a make or break decision for you not to do this. Enjoy! ^smile^

Yes, that is a really good electricity cost and if you have the money to buy yourself a rig I definitely would. It is also advisable to do some rigorous planning of your costs to make sure you are profitable with the setup. I would definitely advise you to check out this mining calculator: http://www.coinwarz.com/calculators/bitcoin-mining-calculatorYou can put your electricity costs, pool fees and hardware costs into the calculation and find out what your daily/monthly profits are going to be from the rig which is good.
