Hi,
i am running a mining rig a couple of days on windows7.
But on windows i have the problem with the "dummy plug".

So i switched to ubuntu today. first it seems to run smothly after starting the first miner.
The first GPU was running about 380MHs
I started the 2nd GPU and suddenly the first GPU runs only at 150Mhs
and the second GPU @100mhs
At the first moment i thought that i set the wrong devices but no.
GPU1 runs @ d0 GPU2 @d3
if i start the other 3 GPU's they slow down more and more.

Any Ideas?
Here some technical facts:

Code:
Adapter 0 - AMD Radeon HD 6990
            Sensor 0: Temperature - 42.50 C

Adapter 1 - AMD Radeon HD 6990
            Sensor 0: Temperature - 65.50 C

Adapter 2 - ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series
            Sensor 0: Temperature - 38.00 C

Adapter 3 - ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series
            Sensor 0: Temperature - 32.00 C

Adapter 4 - ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series
            Sensor 0: Temperature - 45.00 C

You can see that GPU1 and GPU4 are running.

Code:
 fglrxinfo
display: :0  screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: AMD Radeon HD 6990
OpenGL version string: 4.1.10666 Compatibility Profile Context

display: :0  screen: 1
OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: AMD Radeon HD 6990
OpenGL version string: 4.1.10666 Compatibility Profile Context

display: :0  screen: 2
OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series
OpenGL version string: 4.1.10666 Compatibility Profile Context

display: :0  screen: 3
OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series
OpenGL version string: 4.1.10666 Compatibility Profile Context

display: :0  screen: 4
OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series
OpenGL version string: 4.1.10666 Compatibility Profile Context

CPU runs @100%

I hve tried poclbm, phoenix/phatk
Crossfire is switched Off.

It is the same like in this topic:
http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=3359.msg160724#msg160724
but cant write there. :/

Thank you for any feedback.

I don't know of this will help, but I had some problems installing 3 6970's on Ubuntu 11.04 64 bit. I got one card running just fine, but the minute I physically added a second or a third I was having problems booting up to the GUI login.

Anyways, I was able to boot up in safe mode or recovery mode or whatever its called (hold down shift during bootup to get the menu) and once back in, I reran the aticonfig

sudo aticonfig --initial -f --adapter=all

 rebooted, and all was well.

Not exactly the same problem you are having, but maybe its worth a shot.
