On the one hand I absolutely understand the need for newbie restrictions as a kind of idiot filter.

But it's hard to have to wait before I can ask bot-developers questions Sad

I'd like to suggest letting anyone post but have their first message (or first few messages) moderated.
I used this policy for my yahoo groups and never had any spam problems.

That's I think tough since it requires manual Moderator work. With a forum the size of BitCoinTalk...that may be problematic.

I'm afraid I have to correct myself: the 5 (or6) posts are totally ok, but the 4hours are a pain in the ass
There are issues that I really want to answer to but I guess have to wait and wait and wait...

I would like to reply to this with a sensible post and get on my way to be established.

I think earning your way onto the boards is fair.

I have some technical hardware questions that I need some help with.

thank you all,

I saw some complains that people want to participate in non-newbie threads so the restrictions are perceived as annoying. My question in that case: is that other thread really so fast moving that you cannot spent some 4 hours here in the newbie forum and then move on?

ANd yes, I mainly posted that question to get one more post...   Grin

4 hours is perfect since if someone's attention span lasts that long then they are worth keeping around.
