I am mining in Slush's pool, and read that I can get "free" Namecoins if I can provide an address.
After doing some Googling, there are posts recommending registering an account on Crypto X Change, but the site has been closed down long ago.
The default Namecoin client doesn't seem to be very user friendly.
Can anyone advice me on the best way to get started with Namecoin?

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

You just have to start the namecoin client and you get your wallet automatically.
It's pretty similar to bitcoin.

Either get the namecoin-client (if you actually want to use your namecoins),
or an account at vircurex.com (if you just want to trade your namecoins for bitcoins)

I clicked on namecoind.exe, a console pops up. A few seconds later, the console just disappeared and nothing happened....

Vircurex seems to charge a huge amount on withdrawal....
My whole Bitcoin wallet consists of 0.0002 BTC....

Thanks. The fees seem more reasonable for btc-e.com

There is a namecoin client and a GUI also but take care because the wallet cannot be encrypted. You can put it in a truetype container or encrypt it with 7z.
They are less namecoins than bitcoins and it is a great idea behind it. Now you can buy them cheap and one day they could be as valorous as bitcoins.

From what I've read on his site there aren't many being made anymore and he is phasing them out. I think he said only 7% of the pool is still working in a way that generates namecoins.

In this thread it was suggested to use vircurex as the target for mining income. But when i log into vircurex and see the deposit addresses i see on the bottom that they claim they cant credit coins that are generated. It would have been ideal to use it for bitparking.com but now im not sure. Is it only that they dont like it or doesnt it work really to mine directly on these addresses?

Otherwise... is there a wallet i can use that can receive devcoin, groupcoin, namecoin, ixcoin and i0coin? I dont really want to download each wallet and each blockchain.

EDIT: My bad... when mining at bitparking its not the same like solomining. Coins from bitparking are sent, so can be credited... sorry...

Please ALWAYS contact me through bitcointalk pm before sending someone coins.
