Here's a small update from the world of POW coins.  There's not much and it seems that most of the alts listed on Polo and Trex are seeing red.  It wouldn't be surprising to see another downtrend for alts in the last couple of months of 2016.

There's no big developments among PoW altcoins as everything is focused on Bitcoin's price surge and Segwit right now.  So I guess the altcoin bear market could last until the end the first quarter of 2017 then?  What do you guys think?

Things are pretty quiet mostly with proof of work based cryptocurrencies.  It's almost like there's no more interest in maintaining an open source project for free ever since ICO's and crowdfunding went in vogue.  I guess it's all about making as much money as they can while the crypto craze lasts.  And who can blame them...?

That's all in the world of Proof of Work coins.  Not much updates and I'm mixed with the Monero one.  I couldn't quite know how to react since it could be a good one but then again it could be a red flag.  XMR could be used as another exit strategy since transactions will be more anonymous once RingCT becomes online maybe next year(?).

Oh, and the Vcash forum is gone.  That could be a red flag too imo.

The Monero update is looking good imo.  I'm excited to see their GUI released and see the contrast to the number of users now and then.  This could have a major effect.  I'm also removing Vcash.  The John Conor guy dumped and closed down its Github, its site and its forum.  Not cool.

This is the only worthy news update among all the proof of work based coins.  The sad thing with Monero's recent release of its GUI is the timing.  If only Bitcoin isn't go through a strong price surge, XMR could be doing one of its own right now.  Put it in your watch list and look out for this one imo.

I think there will come a time when both Litecoin and Monero will try to outdo each other by trying to come out with better technology.  For now Monero has the edge over Litecoin.  Litecoin never really 'pushed the envelope' as they say.  They had a few years of being stagnant and maybe now they realized that they should be getting of their asses and start developing and improving again.  That's good to see.

And I'm removing Namecoin.

I'm particularly excited with Litecoin's activation of SegWit.  Let's see what comes out of it if it does get activated and comes their implementation of LN later.  An interesting twist would be if Blockstream starts testing their LN wares on Litecoin on a production level.  a fine example of the Bitcoin Mining Industry shooting themselves on the foot.

Well that's it for this week's updates.  I'm quite surprised that Segwit activation in Litecoin is showing low percentages.  I thought that one was in the bag according to what Charlie Lee was saying a few weeks ago.  The impression I had was the LTC miners responded positively with the upgrade and will therefore cooperate.  So what's with the hold up?  Anybody know?

That's it for this week's Proof of Work altcoin updates.  What I have been curious about tho is what does the community think about Segwit for Litecoin?  Will it get activated?  Will we finally see a LN built on Litecoin?  I for one would love to see the tech in action even if it's only in LTC.  Scalability matters, let's see what LN can bring on the table for crypto.
