probably was due to Cyber Monday week... I just had a BTC xfr to Coinbase take 49hrs to be confirmed after paying Blockchain.info's default tx fee... With everybody and their brother no doubt paying more for faster confirmations things got backed up... The good part for me is that BTC >USD went up during the time it took so was worth more when I exchanged

I don't see any talk of overclocking the R4 in this thread. I found this video of a guy who says he upped his speed from 600M to 650M (speed of the faster R9) with little increase in heat for a 9.3TH/s. Anyone else able to run this speed without problems? He's not completely knowledgeable on the power consumption, as he's unaware that the S9 has 3 boards and the R4 has 2 boards so when he calculates that increase in power he's doing it assuming the R4 has 3 boards also (actual increase should be about 67watts, not 103watts, so about 915watts = 1,000+ watts at the wall). Careful with this video, about 1/2 through he changes his audio settings and you might blow your speakers if the volume is too high. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qv7c3BWtvZkHere's his results when he pushes it to 700M (he's not aware that you need to let it settle and run for a while to see a result on a lower speed and that you need to watch the HW errors to see if it's working OK): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HCTAKIQSkVcWill Batch 2 of the R4's have the autotune feature the new S9's have?

Hi all, my first post here, so plz steer me in the right direction if this has already been asked. I'm a veteran in IT/MIS, but a relative noob to coin mining... About to order my first mining rig this coming week - the R4. Have been heavily researching the different mining rig options. I like the hashing power & ROI of the S9's, but the environments that I have access to free electricity won't put up with that kind of heat & noise. My question is can the Antminer R4 be powered with one of the EVGA 110volt power supply units such as this one... EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 G2 80+ GOLD 1000W Fully Modular 10 Year Warranty Includes FREE Power On Self Test Power Supply 120-G2-1000-XR https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-SuperNOVA-Modular-Warranty-120-G2-1000-XR/dp/B00CGYCNG2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1480902664&sr=8-1&keywords=EVGA+1000Thanks in advance!

I've been using the 1000w for the last 4 days and it's worked fine but I don't want to cut it that close. Upgrading to a server PSU shortly.

Thanks for the confirmation reelen. I was hoping that option would work, but also as philipma1957 mentioned, I was concerned with cutting it so close. Especially since I plan to overclock the R4 to 650 and that will put it up over 900 watts of consumption. I agree, the EVGA SuperNOVA 1300 G2, 80+ GOLD 1300W would be the best (& cheapest) option. I'll add it to my cart. PS - any idea on how long the entire order process will take for it to get here (Florida, USA) from BitMain in China? I haven't even picked out & setup a digital wallet yet, so I have no 'Bitcoin Account' which will only leave me the Wire Transfer option for payment. Still reviewing the different pools available to join as well... AntPool, Slush, etc... don't know which is best/cheapest yet. PS - I just read the following:
"Each AntMiner R4 has 6 PCI-e connectors for +12V/15A DC STABLE input on hash boards and 1 PCI-e connector on the controller, all the 7 PCI-e connectors are required. Do not connect more than one PSU to the same hash board to prevent possible damage and instability."
I thought by looking at the pictures that these EVGA SuperNOVA series only have 6 Power outlets for VGA use? Where does the 7th power plug needed for the Antminer controller come from?
Also, what are your thoughts on buying one of the NEW R4 units at places (that already have the R4 Batch 2 in stock in the USA) other than directly from BITMAIN in China? Wonder if BITMAIN honors the 90-Day warranty for a third party? When buying from a third party I understand that the original 90-Day warranty begins when it got shipped to the USA, so hopefully I'd have at least 45 days of warranty left & hopefully BITMAIN will honor it.
Thanks all!

The EVGA connectors have dual 6pin connectors on the end so one 8pin (marked as VGA) on the back of the psu actually supply's two 6pin connectors the other end.

I'd hold off buying any power supply until you can actually buy a R4. They are out of stock.

As for the 7 jacks use a double jack wire and plug one into the controller and a board. that double jack cable would pull say 170 watts the other 5 will pull 150 watts not an issue. evga cables do 220-250 watts. A tip Do not plug and unplug your cables a lot they wear out fast. (hard to believe but true)

Is there somewhere else to signify that they are out on stock of the R4's, because it doesn't indicate out of stock on the BUY Now link.. https://shop.bitmain.com/productDetail.htm?pid=00020161201095444529eRF3C3sI0659I did notice the lack of an option to buy an S9, perhaps that was what philipma1957 was meaning to refer to as being out of stock? Wait, duh... I see now that the price is 'gray'd out' and you can't add the R4 to your cart. Also, I notice the price DROPPED down from on 12/2/2016 a price of $1,395 USD to the price today of $1,080 USD. Nice. I also noticed that they changed the hash specs from 8.6TH/s (in R4 Batch 1) to now 8.0TH/s for R4 Batch 2. Not so nice. Oh well, the overclock to 650 should get at least back to the original 8.6TH/s. I was hoping to get a bit over 9TH/s with the 650 overclock, but it looks like that might no longer be a possibility. Thanks all!

here check this link. its oos atm. https://shop.bitmain.com/main.htm?lang=enYeah, that's the link I was referring to - the price is 'grayed out' and you can't add the R4 to your cart, also there isn't even an option to click on to buy an S9 either. So, the question is now - how long until the new stock of more R4's are available from Bitmain? Anyone know any info on this? Thanks!
