Not sure why people are still buying these, even with the current price rise 8.7TH only pays $5.7 per day before electricity, add in .05 for power and thats around $3 per day or so , it would take a year to ROI on the $1000 cost of these units.

they should cost half what they do imo but I'll never understand bitcoin miners /shrug  they just keep buying

Just so you know, bitmain's price for btc=$808.21 with REAL price of btc=828.67 (index) or $830 (coinbase).
I cannot support this kind of skulldoggery. what is this, a central committee price?

Will Bitmain never fix their ordering system?  You place the order, you pay your money, and they still never get the payment processed in time and it goes to an expired order status....  Huh  How irritating.

Odd, they have 2 batches, one with 8 TH/s and one with 8.7 TH/s which I assume is running at 550M and 600M, but they didn't update the wattage used for the 8.7 in the specs., so those that don't know will think the faster one is even more efficient than the slower one and uses the same electricity.  In reality, it probably uses about 10% more electricity.

I bought two batch 4 8.7Th/s R4's and I'm replacing 2x S9 with them.
It means less howlin' noise for my home mine.
I will keep two S9's in the soundproof cabinet.

Anyone get their order to update from expired to valid yet?  My order still says expired so I am wondering how long it takes before they update this.

I just wait for the email to come in confirming the order.  I ignore the order status on the website since it seems to be a common issue with the automated BTC payment not updating quite right...

Besides it's only 4:30am in China right now, they'll be in soon enough and start sifting through the orders I'd guess.

I don't think I'm up for buying anything if the exchange rate is $15 or more below what it should be. As bitcoin skyrockets in price bitmain stays put at $808. I don't really need any more miners and I only would be buying one or two more just to fill out space. I think I'm going to boycott these batches until bitmain keeps their price up to date again. If I miss out, oh well. I guarantee you they would be updating the price if it was falling right now.

my thoughts exactly...it basically defeats the whole purpose of bitcoin as a 24hr asset.
nevertheless, people are rah-rah about ordering..I can't speak for others, but I will not order anything until this stops.

One of my R4's that stopped hashing on one board has stopped hashing completely after trying to restore the original firmware. The hardware version listed under system overview says "   Socket connect failed: Connection refused".

I have tried powering off several times, reboots, updating firmware, etc. No more hashing. There has to be an easy fix to this without sending to Hong Kong or letting sit in Denver for weeks on end. Any thoughts?

EDIT:  unplugged the original board that did not hash and fired back up, the one remaining board is hashing again at 4th/s!

I had similar issues with multiple S9 units of my clients - I am wondering if just some loose wires that can be fixed easily by someone with the necessary skill. Very interested to learn your experience.

I had the exact problem with an S9 unit 14Th
It is currently being serviced by bitmain and should return soon. One board brought down the whole machine and unplugging it fixed it
