It's super easy to install node.js on a server (VPS). But, you need to use a proxy for security reasons.
check this : https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-set-up-a-node-js-application-for-production-on-ubuntu-14-04

It's insecure to run any node app at 80 port (because only root have access to ports 0-1024, and in this case node.js must run with root privileges).
