Komodo testnet has sustained 1 minute blocks for over a day now! With the 2MB block limit, that means KMD can handle 20x the number of transparent tx that bitcoin can. The zcash tx are quite a bit bigger so the number would be about 5x smaller if measured in zcash tx.

Thanks to all that are running testnet nodes. If you have any decent type of server, it will be enough for testnet purposes and you can get a head start on being elected as an official notary node for the $500/mo payment

Being up to speed on the technical side is the most important part of running a notary node. There appear to be plenty of vendors that offer cost effective hardware and bandwidth with the needed requirements of 64GB RAM and 500GB SSD, 100mbit/sec+ bandwidth

Do we need to have the dedicated server already in place for the vote? Or it´s enough to describe the server which will be ordered after a successful candidacy?

BTW: I entered the slack channel (username @rnr) for participate with an VPS in the testnet.

As long as you are credible and have a smoothly running testnet notary. However if the choice is between someone without the real server ready vs. one that has it  ready and all else is equal...

At this point I dont think we will have more than 64 candidates though, so it should be ok.

Important thing is to be active and interact with the other testnet notaries. There will be a non-binding peer ranking among the testnet notaries for all the other notaries. This way the electorate can see how each testnet notary is viewed by the others on several scales, ie technical competence, helpfulness, reliability, promptness, etc.

In addition to objective metrics I think having subjective metrics from the peer group will be useful. While in some sense the notaries are competing with each other, they are much more cooperating with each other as the majority of the testnet notaries will become the official ones. At least at first.

Now it is possible some large investors or investor groups will want to vote in their own notary operator, maybe simply to increase their ROI or more strategically to ensure that any 51% attack is one notary node more difficult to achieve. Controlling a notary node wont really provide any other advantage that I can see to any stakeholder as there is a separation of powers and after a few blocks it is notarized by bitcoin

Please add me to the list, I have a good performance server to handle the testnet.
Also how many people will be elected as final notary node owners?
you need to join #notarynode in the supernet slack. autoinvite via slackinvite.supernet.org

The way to get added to the list is to get a testnet notary node running and get me your pubkey that you are mining with.

Max of 64 official notary node operators

I joined the slack and want to help with being an Notary node. I had contact with Badass and he's willing to provide hardware and support. I am now setting up an VPS for Testnet.

We now have a couple of blockexplorers:

and http://148.251.57.148:3001/ was ported by oxarbitrage. hashes are endian reversed, but it has richlist and address balances and is quite useful for testing

Do we require to participate with BTCD in order to avail bonus?

Are you talking about the ICO?

People can invest with BTC during the ICO, but we will also swap all the BTCD for KMD after the ICO.

If the ICO fills 30K BTC 90 Million KMD are used up. No swap for BTCD at this point, if 10,000 BTC collected in the ICO would mean 60 Million KMD for BTCD to Swap and 50% reward may also mean many BTCD holders will not buy in with BitCoin and wait for the swap to trade out and have a better position in KMD. I think most of this ICO is actually a swap and people who buy in with BitCoin may find they can't get their position they buy in at back unless people buy it on the market for more than the ICO which they could just buy BTCD and get the better position. Unless the math was done elsewhere that I didn't see by chance?

Or does the BTCD on the main chain still Trade? Do BTCD holders get both the asset and their original coin? This would dump the price of BTCD and not pay for the Nodes as there is no selling of the BTCD to sustain the ICO. I am probably confused here Smiley

The ICO starts on Oct 15th. You don't have to register anywhere, and everyone is welcome. We will post more info closer to the launch date, when everything is ready.

BTC investors get bonuses, for example 25% on the first day. BTCD is swapped for KMD after the ICO. No BTCD is needed to participate in this ICO, only BTC.

Or does the BTCD on the main chain still Trade? Do BTCD holders get both the asset and their original coin? This would dump the price of BTCD and not pay for the Nodes as there is no selling of the BTCD to sustain the ICO. I am probably confused here Smiley

BTCD holders swap their BTCD for KMD, that means they lose their BTCD coins. We don't expect the BTCD to have much value without any devs or plans. However, it should be linked to the KMD price for one full year, as it can still be swapped for KMD. All the BTCD that is swapped will just sit in a BTCD address and not go get sold or go to circulation. So there is no reason to expect the BTCD price to dump during the next year. Every BTCD holder will have plenty of time to do the swap.

The notary nodes will get paid from the ICO funds at first. In the long term the system will become self-sustaining, as the blockchain usage rises and the nodes collect more tx fees. The nodes will also get block rewards until we reach the max 200 million KMD cap.

The 'asset' you are referring to is an entirely different thing, nothing to do with Komodo. The BTCD holders were promised certain revenue streams from the SuperNET ecosystem, and because there won't be a BTCD in the future they will receive an asset. The asset will be made someday after the ICO, no date for that, could take a while as SuperNET needs to develop certain technologies (like assetchains).

So, assuming that if all the 90% of ICO coins gets sold, BTCD holders would be left with 10% of the Komodo coins to swap...right?

Now anyone can control one of the 64 nodes which are needed for the Komodo Notary Network.

I have for rent:

6 (or 8, when i'm not getting elected) BadAss Notary Node incl. colo in a bulletproof location in the Netherlands.
A node can also be swapped with one of the servers in another geographic region!

1 x Intel Xeon L5520 (4 cores/8 threads) you can use 2 threads for Komodod and 2 for Bitcoind and others for administrative tasks.
64GB memory
1 x 500GB Samsung Enterprise SSD (no consumer version)
15TB bandwidth
1 x IPv4 addresses
KVM access and control panel
Installed with preferrable Linux distro

200USD per month in BTC (3 months up front)

I can fully secure the server and install everything for you for a fee if you don't know how to do that (one time 100usd). It is also possible that i manage the server for a fee (25usd per month)

My DC has an uptime of 99.9% (in reality it is 100%). jl777, BTCDdev and others can confirm this. All servers are directly connected to the AMS-IX backbones.

Keep in mind, you'll get 500usd per month in KMD & BTC (if KMD are not 500usd worth at that time). So a profit of 300USD. 200USD you pay me in BTC.

3 months up front, after that payment per month or annually (with discount 1 month FREE).

You rent the server ANONYMOUS. But please, don't think you can abuse the server. Phishing, spam mailruns, kiddyporn and terrorism is strictly forbidden!!

When payment is not received at the first week of a new month, the power goes down and you lose the right to be the owner of the node. A new owner will get elected and the pubkey will be changed on the notary node list.

ELECTION (READ THIS!)

Only elected people can get a spot. Server admins will get elected by the shareholders. This means that you can still be on the list for a spot, even when i already have 6 clients. If they won't get elected their spot comes available again. So I am looking for 14 possible clients.

You only pay when you get elected! So, basically this offer is a no brainer. Get elected and earn 300usd per month!

CURRENT LIST:

- yassinnxt
- pondsea
- stenkross
- proto
- Killakem
- Durerus
- Frl4web
- bitcoinuserx (reserve)
- (reserve)
- (reserve)
- (reserve)
- (reserve)
- (reserve)
- (reserve)

Only 1 spot per client

Q&A

- What do i need to do when i get elected?
Setup the server as a Komodo Notary Node, sit back and relax. Of course you have to secure the server so do your maintenance and updates.

- How do I get elected?
I don't know. Do a trump campaign, act crazy like Clinton or hug the shareholders? It's all up to you. Or read this https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1605144.msg16450895#msg16450895

- Is it really free money?
Well..uhm yeah. Get elected, run the node, receive Komodo's and there it is. Free money.

- What if the Komodo's are not worth the 500usd?
jl777 will give the rest in BTC from the ICO funds.

- Ok, i'm in, what to do?
Write a message in this topic why you want the node. And if you trust me up front, write me a trust review on BCT.

- What is BadAss Security Services?

BadAss (me) is a privacy and security consultant and specialised in being paranoia. BadAss does not like Tor services and so called anonymous VPN providers. BadAss provides co-location servers for all kinds of blockchain projects.

BadAss stands for an open and free internet and provides different services to support that noble thought. Like for instance:

Bulletproof VPS https://www.badass.sx
Bulletproof VPN https://www.rootvpn.eu
Encrypted Email Service https://www.safe-mail.eu
Bulletproof Blockchain Nodes
Anonymous domain registration
Anonymous DNS servers
SSL certificates
Installations of all kinds of services

BadAss cares about your privacy. For all of our services we only need your name and BTC payment.

We will make the internet GREAT again!!!

List updated

Need BadAss Bulletproof VPS or Bulletproof VPN or why not just mail safe with Safe-Mail. We care about your privacy.

Every BTCD holder will have plenty of time to do the swap.

So a BTCD holder has no reason not to swap within a year after the ICO, otherwise they will be holding a coin that is no longer maintained ... Can you please explain what would be done with the swapped BTCD once the year is over?

I mean what will be more profitable? Btc or btcd on ico on the first day.

Do you need ico current price possible advantage?

According to https://steemit.com/komodo/@komodoplatform/komodo-ico-questions-and-answers:

Quote
The following was calculated based on the BTC bonus:

    Oct. 15 - 25% bonus = 0.00425 BTC/BTCD
    Oct. 16-22 - 20% bonus = 0.00443 BTC/BTCD
    Oct. 23-29 - 15% bonus = 0.00462 BTC/BTCD
    Oct. 30-Nov 5 - 10% bonus = 0.00483 BTC/BTCD
    Nov 6-12 - 5% bonus = 0.00506 BTC/BTCD
    Nov 13-20 - 0% bonus = 0.00532 BTC/BTCD

This means that as long as you acquire BTCD for less than 0.00425 BTC each, then once swapped, KMDs you'll get will cost cheaper than what they would have cost you if you were a first-day BTC investor.

or to ico payment will only BTC converted into btcd? Is it possible to directly btcd pay? How then will be converted?  Roll Eyes Huh

Are you talking about the ICO?

People can invest with BTC during the ICO, but we will also swap all the BTCD for KMD after the ICO.

I mean what will be more profitable? Btc or btcd on ico on the first day.

Do you need ico current price possible advantage?

What is more profitable depends on the BTCD's price. For a long time it traded below the promised swap rate. When calculating the price you will have to factor in the BTC and BTCD ICO bonuses (see 2# comment of this thread) and the revenue asset which BTCD holders will receive (a subjective value). Yes correct, everyone should swap their BTCD's to KMD. There is no exact plan about what to do with the BTCD we receive in the swap.

The BTCD blockchain is used today in various SuperNET projects and thus it will continue to have a function in the near future. However, ultimately all the technology will move over to Komodo blockchain and BTCD will have no role left. How long will that take? No one knows at this point.
