Hey guys. I'm also one of the beta notary node operators and I can just say if anyone has any doubt about the progress or just want to check behind the scenes feel free to join the Komodo slack and check on the daily progress yourself.  Cool

Hello

I'm a technician 14 years ago

I am in the world of cryptocurrencies since 2012 with my first FPGAs and GPUs. After I invested in Swedish ASIC. Until I get tired a little of the arms race.

If we want world adoption we need worldwide network. Diversity in the locations , will offer better service around the world.

I am very interested in the project and move on.

I deploy 4  high performance Nodes . Mined more than 42000 KMDS .

These nodes are  online 24/7. Joined to testnet first days. Updated 2 times a day.

I dont use obsolete & cheap hardware. My oldest hardware since 2014.

Nodes are at datacenter tier 3 less than 2 hours degraded service annual & tier 4  less than 1 hours degraded service annual

2 of these nodes have a 1Gbit WAN bandwidth unmetered they Are  SeedNotary . These will hardly be saturated by downloads or conections.

My nodes aren't located in the same cities as the majority at cheapest providers .

If we want an equal service for anyone in the world. (Latency, download, etc ...). We need a balanced network. A network with high percentage of its nodes in the same cities, isn't balanced.

Aghhh this is so frustrating....Whenever I try to open my BTCD wallet (which I spent several days downloading the blockchain and everything was working) it says it cannot load blkindex.dat

Does anyone have a fix that does not involve redownloading the entire blockchain?

I've spoken to several people who will not buy BTCD specifically because they are unsure about the mechanics of the swap. Wasn't there supposed to have already been a snapshot? If so, BTCD bought now *won't* be swapable. Or is there going to be no snapshot and you'll have to transfer your BTCD somewhere to get KMD? People are uncertain.

wow, this has to be the highlight BTT post for me in 2016, great to see you asking a question in this thread @JoelKatz, hope the answer you got provided the certainty you needed to buy a few BTCD!

You are going to have to re-sync the your wallet.
I'm not sure which platform you are using but these are the simplest instructions.

Go to the folder were you have wallet.dat, I assume you backed up your wallet.dat file and know where it is.
Then delete EVERTHING other than wallet.dat, peers and BitcoinDark.conf file
The folder should be here if on windows.
: C:\Users\X\AppData\Roaming\Bitcoindark

Now restart the machine if you want ( I do that on linux) Open your BTCD QT and it will start syncing. If you still have issues let us know. For Komodo Platform I even delete the peers.dat but I'm not sure you should delete that on BitcoinDark

Cheers,

Most crypto projects suffer from this, not just SuperNET and komodo. The reason is probably less technical, and more to do with difficulties establishing long term working relationships in  projects without a designated project manager. Think about it, how many crypto projects have enough resources to employ an experienced project manager at the start? Some have hard working community members doing loads of things, but they're doing community management, not project management. Jl777 can't be the PM, he's already doing too much as it is. I've been around a few big projects in my time, and the effect a good PM can have is massive, and so too for a bad one. SuperNET doesn't have a PM, but jl777 has offered bounties, so it's not from a lack of trying to find one. The skillset of a good PM is very unique, not technical skill or knowledge so much, but more temperament, ability to problem solve,  ability to delegate tasks, handle stress, communicate effectively etc

Organising GUI would be the task of PM, dealing with planning, hiring/firing, task outline, feedback, review, etc would be their bread and butter.

I disagree. Most projects are able to have a functioning GUI fairly quickly.

Ones based on clones maybe, but more innovative projects like iota and monero have both had gui problems too. Sounds like you want to criticise someone, so go ahead, who is responsible in your opinion, or are you just venting?

Edit, are you saying project management is not important, or PM with this project has been ok?

The time-frame to vote is 2 weeks, so it will be quite easy not to vote. Even if you don't vote you can get your KMD after the election when everyone gets them.

We haven't decided much yet regarding the future elections. I would guess it's kind of impossible to make the voting compulsory. Such a move might also have some negative consequences.

Why are GUIs with these related projects so slow and difficult to create?

The Iguana wallet is not that simple technically. It has had a full team developing the GUI for some time now, and it takes time to fix all the bugs etc. They have had constant updates throughout the development process.

Iguana GUI Updates: https://imgur.com/a/mi6SU
 Update #13 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1605144.msg16974440#msg16974440

 Update #15 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1605144.msg17118346#msg17118346

Satinder developed the Komodo wallet with Z-transactions. That one is working, but requires easy installers. That's why they are now developing/testing the Iguana Desktop app, which will allow the user to one-click install these wallets. It's in internal testing at this moment.

Iguana Update #16

Quote
Iguana app v0.2
I'm glad to announce that we have no tasks left in To-Do list for 0.2 version. It took us longer as we have to optimize all the screens for three dimensions (desktop, tablet, mobile) and account two modes (Iguana, Non-Iguana) specific features.

We have upgraded user landing flow, sending A>A feature with more user-friendly fee settings and dynamic recommendation, added more fiat currencies (32), add ten new cryptocurrencies. Check the release note for more details.

The backlog for v0.3 is compiled, though the features from the list are likely to be distributed among intermediate releases.

We cover the following features in Iguana App 0.3:

Download and run daemons through the GUI for Non-Iguana and Iguana Full Nodes
Manual Sync/Refresh daemons for Non-Iguana and Iguana Full Nodes
Full/Lite Mode Switcher for Iguana Full Nodes
Delete coin/wallet
Disclaimer
10 more cryptocurrencies to support
More UX-improvements of the released features

N.B.: The full Iguana platform roadmap is in the designing phase, and I plan to present it by the end of the year with, possibly, time, budget and human resources projection.

Chrome and Windows apps.
Iguana Chrome app is there. It is published on the Store and now is accessible to the testing group only. I warned before it should not be expected to work as a light Iguana version, but if we get Windows app working stable by the time of 0.2 release, this will give a drastic progress.

By the exact date for v0.2 release, the store page will be SEO-optimized and ready for promotion along with other marketing activities.
Due to the latest update from the Windows developers, the 32-bit and 64-bit versions are almost done, and they will be released as a bundle of Iguana GUI, Iguana core and KOMODO coind integrated. Now the devs are tweaking the security layer issues.

Iguana Marketing.
The strategic promotional plan has only two lines so far: Chrome store page optimization and Iguana promo site. This week, as promised, I will be busy with designing the detailed plan and budget for each channel. I have already put down some growth-hacking ideas that might work out and save us some pennies. It is on my to-do list, and I plan to publish the first draft by the end of this week. I consider traditional channels along with new ones and in-app promotional features. If you have a good digital marketing background or you believe you have a break-through and budget-wise idea, pls, feel free to approach me and discuss it on #marketing.

Next.
Debugging Chrome app
Debugging Windows app
Releasing v0.2
Marketing the app launch
Designing Iguana full roadmap

I didn't think the snapshop had anything to do with the exchange. It had to do with the income asset the early believers would get to share in the income of Komodo.

Is this not the case?

EDIT: This was answered a few messages ago. Yes, the snapshot is to get REVS asset, not to exchange.

You are correct. The Snapshot will determine the REVS (revenue shares) you will receive for holding BTCD. The exchange is a whole different thing and it will be ongoing for a year after release.

Any working KMD wallet presently to move my ICO tokens to?

The ICO coins have not been distributed yet.

There are some GUI releases already, but there are no easy installers yet and you my encounter some bugs.

Iguana wallet - https://github.com/SuperNETorg/Iguana-GUI/releases
EasyDEX - https://github.com/SuperNETorg/EasyDEX-GUI
Desktop app - https://github.com/SuperNETorg/iguana

Why are GUIs with these related projects so slow and difficult to create?

The Iguana GUI is a bit more complicated than QT-clone wallets we've grown accustomed to (for BTC clones and even some non BTC alts).  I think you'll see what they're trying to do with the multi-wallet implementation UI a few posts up.  I for one am pretty excited to have one app supporting a number of coins and eventually the exchange between these coins without the use of a central third-party exchange.

Iguana will change how we view "multi-wallets". Along with InstantDEX it will also take us one step closer to decentralized exchange.
Iguana will not only use the core currencies, it can and probably will accommodate all types of digital currencies.
