Is Gambling addiction a disease?

I like sports,i like to gambling also but it limited but when its cross the limit its called addiction,gambling is a common disorder that is associated with both social and family costs.

As mentioned self control is is the only way to get rid of addiction, rather than taking a remedy after addiction it is good to stay within limits earlier itself. Being greedy is common with each and every human, overcoming the same require good knowledge about the loss that acquires with gambling. Most probably only after experiencing some loss people used to set their limits and play.

But it somehow not all of us were in that thinking and letting themselves to be addicted. There is no medication that could help it out but it is our self who can beat it and give the solution. If we are willing to make it, then there is a big chances to get out from the life we don't want to be.

It's an emotional problem, that could result to a problem with health, when money is your problem because of addiction it will have a big effect on your as a person and it could affect the people that surrounds you, so prevention is always better than cure.

Thats true, even psychiatric won't help if you don't want it to stop, it's not a disease that can kill you, only you can stop it dude.
it's just a kind of bad habit I think, with the intention to quit, and a good plan, you can just get out of addiction

Exactly. We can all say it's all in the person's mind or the person can stop if he really wants to be we haven't been in the situation of an addicted gambler. Tell a smoker, who's been smoking all his life to quit smoking and you'll probably get a laugh or no answer at all. Addiction is a serious case regardless of what the person is addicted to. And as with any illness, it shouldn't be taken lightly by the person and the people around them.

I really take issue with people calling things like gambling a disease. You have a problem, but it's not It's not a disease. I don't think anything is a disease if you can get rid of it just by sheer willpower alone. You can't get rid of AIDS or cancer just by sheer determination. Those are genuine illnesses that you can't help and have no control over whether you have them or not. You can help not gambling. All it takes is for you to not do it. I accept that getting over addictions is easier said than done, but you can do it by changing your behavior and mindset. Nobody is forcing you to walk to a gambling shop or visit a gambling website. You just need to find the willpower not to do so and occupy you mind with something else, and that's why I don't think we should be calling it a disease because it seems like am excuse to me. It's a problem you have, but not a disease. Same goes for things like sex addiction.

Yes, it is more likely to be called as a disease, why? Well I'll be completely broad and short with this one because its actually pretty simple, one of the many reasons on why gamblers get addicted is by the influence of another gambler, how? When a gambler gets back to back wins not only himself/herself gains confidence but the gamblers that are around him/her as well, its like a mass effect wherein its likely to be considered as a disease, but that doesn't mean it can't be stopped, it actually can be stopped, there are so many ways and trust me I became addicted to it as well back then, but with the help of family, friends and everything I was able to redeem my old, normal self back.

When you are in addiction stage that is very hard to cure, ^ you are right many people makes them lives to ruin and miserable just because of gambling addiction. Why gamblers reached on this stage? Lack of self-control and being desperate in chasing money and then they did not notice they are on the addiction stage. You can avoid this while at the earlier time, having limitation is one of the important things and always bear in mind that gambling is supposed to be for fun.

That is truth,  I have been following this thread and following comments and we really did not want to see addictions in gambling as a disease but it is really is!  Gambling addiction is a really bad diseases as it can make you becoming poor and your entire family affecting!  It is important that we truly visit "rehab center " for healing!

Whether you win or lose if you cannot control yourself, it means you are addicted and play blindly. The key point is how you can control yourself. Don't force yourself even you win, and stop to play when you are losing. That is the right concept of non-addicted players. Anyway, for me, gambling is not a proper place to make money, it is only a game and for fun.

 I don’t think so gambling is not for everyone those who are earning with gambling will get profit at the end, it is good if it is disease there are so many benefits of this disease, it gives ways to making money, it helps us to enjoy our time because I gamble only when I get free from my work so I really enjoy it and it gives me ways of earning I am want this disease to mix in me.

They can help you treat addiction if you will cooperate with what they will suggest you to do.

There's no medicine for it but gradual healing through projecting with another activity to work on to divert your time instead of gambling.

The government should not ban something, as long as there is no risk from that activity to anyone else. I am saying this because these bans can never be implemented. It will just push that particular activity underground. On the other hand, if the government legalizes and regulates that activity, then everything will be transparent and there won't be much scope for the criminal gangs.
