Ok. twicezeroiszero has been paid. I'm not posting the TxID because some people like to keep their transactions private.
Tomorrow there will be another clue mini-game with another .01 prize.

P.S. the prize has grown with the value of bitcoin and is now worth 7120.39 Icelandic Króna

I think I am not that lucky to join this Icelandic bitcoin treasure hunt. By the way, this is a great idea for those who haven’t known about bitcoin and this also makes some impact to the tourism in Iceland and I think it would be better if your note have an Icelandic version beside English then many local would be able to understand.

Today’s mini-game will pay another .01BTC for linking to a photo of the object that the cache is placed under. You can see some of it in the photos I have posted and the other clues should be enough to find a  picture online.
When I searched using just clues from this thread I found it, of course it helps that I knew what I was looking for. First image of the whole object in this thread wins! I’ll PM the winer and send to the address of their choice. Check your images carefully, once you do you will know for sure if you are right.

 Huh

Nobody? Well I'll let it ride and add another challenge question. Let's see who is awake while I get some sleep. The first person to post the correct answer in this thread wins .01BTC in this simple goole skils question! After posting in this thread the winner can PM me a receiving address and I will pay within 24hrs. The other online photo challenge also remains open at the moment. Happy hunting.

The paper wallet has a depiction of early Icelandic vikings. Who is the artist of this image?

I'm surpised to see that no one has replied with the correct answer before me,i guess no one paid attention cause the quiz was very easy.

Could this be the right answer or was the previous post correct. Painted in 1909 by Oscar Wergeland.

Wow, one of the people here was damn close, with what I presume was just a guess. It looks like some sort of monument with the plaque on the side. Well I figure that photo will take the price, and people will find it much easier now. ^smile^

This is a good way to promote tourist sites for people to visit, I hope you are going to give us a brief history to educate us a bit, when this is done. If something like this is properly funded, then it will boost tourism to that area.

Nice puzzle!

I was wondering why nobody is talking about the close-up of the paper wallet on top of a map of Iceland . Also a hammer behind it.

Those things should be some sort of clue right? With the wallet pointing at a location where it can be? Also, the hangman should be a hint on the area we are after.

I'm not going to Iceland soon, but I love puzzles! Good luck all treasure hunters.

EDIT: Description from the photographers flickr:

Quote
Chained
An image from Keflavik, Iceland. I'm not sure of the relevance of this monument as I couldn't understand the plaque. I would guess at some sort of acknowledgement of the islands maritime history? I did like the detail in all the rust and how weather beaten it looks. Even on 35mm film the detail still holds up very well.

Camera: Pentax K1000
Lens: Pentax SMC M 50mm f1.4
Film Stock: Kodak Portra 160

EDIT 2:

Another angle of the anchor, more similar to the angle TS used. Don't know how to link to a photo on flickr, so this link will do I guess.

https://www.flickr.com/photos/13527347@N06/3473308948/in/photostream/

Looks like it is on a shore in front of Keflavik

What a great thread! Unfortunately I'm late for unswering the today's question as I see  Smiley because indeed Oscar Arnold Wergeland is the right answer and here's the picture

But I'll try to participate next time. Good luck all! Good job, OP!

Well, the .1BTC is just sitting there now. Anyone can go pick it up or maybe arrange with someone in Iceland. Remember there is also a .01BTC additional prize for emailing me a photo of the cache.  The clock is ticking now.  Norrisk has pinpointed it on streetview but was unable to figure out what the monument is about. I couldn't figure it out either when I was there, lol.
Stay tuned for updates on the treasure!
@Nobitcoin - The 1909 date was a reprint date I think. I removed it to avoid confusion.

Thanks for the nice puzzle. Maybe the hint to the city came a bit too early though. Next time you may be able to do more subtle hints like pointing the hardware wallet towards the city, etc.

The photos look amazing by the way, really gets me to want to go to Iceland as well. Maybe sometime in the near future I can free the funds and time to go for a trip.

Thanks all for the kind words in this thread. I think I will do this again and include some of your suggestions. I especially like the idea of of online users being able to join the treasure hunt and perhaps provide clues for those who can actually get to the prize. I'll have to come up with a better format in advance. This time I was experimenting a bit.
I hope whoever claims this treasure does send me an email. It would be cool to have a conclusion to the story. But if the money moves and no one ever steps forward then I guess we'll just have to think of him/her like Satoshi.  It could really happen at any time now. Cheesy

Wow, 30 days and nobody collected the money?  Huh

Considering how people will solve captchas all day to make pennies, I am a little surprised that this wallet is still there. (Or at least I think it is, the money has not changed addresses). I know that it is not enough to fly to Iceland. Still, there are no rules here and anyone could partner up or something to get a cut of the loot. I will soon open this up to a wider audience by publishing it on geocaching.com.

Geocaching.com kinda sucks by the way.  To publish a cache you have to take a quiz, follow a bunch of rules and wait forever for a reviewer to OK your cache. However once it is done I suspect the money will promptly disappear. So make your plan now and claim your treasure!
