Chip sale is LIVE NOW on Avalon's site. How can i be part of the group order?

I believe there wont be a group buy. The creators will buy with their own money, develop and create the units. Then sell them. The open source design will be opened for public once the selling starts of it the first 1000 units are sold.
At least i understood it this way.

Please ALWAYS contact me through bitcointalk pm before sending someone coins.

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

Indeed that is our plan, Zefir buys a large qty of chips with his coins.
I will sell plug and play mining boards with these chips.
But he will also sell them to anyone else interested in small qty (DIY).

Haven't heard from him today though.
But i don't think these will be "out of stock" within an hour, so we have time to plan our actions here.

I'm interested in a smallish number of chips for DIY - say ~100. Would consider buying a ready to run board too...

Yes, i hope you can get such chips as one of the firsts. But i guess there will be anyway many big miners that will buy a coupld 100k chips and wait then for the DIY-Plans.
I think ill stick with buying ready made.

What are the plans for the quantity for each user? Limitations planned like spoken of before or is this canceled?

im interested in a group buy on the Avalon ASIC chips. The minimum order QTY is 10,000 @ 780 BTC. Im ready to put in 50 BTC which is about 640 chips. Can a trusted forum member start organizing a group buy and see if there is enough interest to meet the minimum order quantity?

A big miner buying this many chips won't "wait for DIY plans". He will hire an engineer (or himself) to design the whole device.

I'm in for a similar amount. I think there's more than enough interest to reach the minimum order size, but an experienced and trusted community member will definitely need to take the lead on the purchase, as no one will be willing to put that many coins in the hands of someone relatively unknown.

Big Pockets that can afford 100k chips can also afford to hire engineers to get custom boards made for them.

We didn't plan for any limitations per user, i don't expect the big players to buy anything from us.

And one flaw exists in our original plan: What if demand exceeds Zefirs chip supply.
That would mean another 10 Weeks of waiting.

Maybe we should do a group buy of the chips beforehand.
I would of course offer assembly and integration services for buyers of these chips.
It would be efficient if the chip escrow-er would send them directly to me in one delivery.

Reminder what my boards will offer:
*10 Chips / board
*USB
*high performance thermal solution
*stackable
*Opensource

Hi Burnin

How will you do the large scale PCB manufacturing and assembly?

Can you share any pics / data / documentation / designs at this point?

Will the sale of each unit be at cost, or at cost + a small margin, can you elaborate?

What are the current up-to-date timescales and goals?

is there a cool IRC channel where we can hangout on freenode? i would like to assist in anyway i can to make this product come to life:)

Thanks for answering the questions!

# I have multiple contractors I've worked with for years for the assembly.
# Sale of the units will be at cost + small margin, mining is a business these days!
# Plan is that Zefir orders the Chips ASAP, Shipping could begin within a week of me receiving the chips. My projection therefor says 1. Week of July.
# We don't have an IRC channel yet

Here's are some simple mechanical renderings:

Host interface stacking will be done by CAN-Bus so this will scale up to the equivalent of a 4 Module Avalon (320 Chips).

Allten, someone42, Zefir and i are working on a universal USB-Host Controller for Projects with Avalon
Chips.
Any capable embedded HW/SW-Developer is welcome to join us.
We're working on this behind closed doors until release though.

THIS. Is what we've been waiting for.  Were going to buy a single lot, and hire someone to do the rest,  hardware and engineering are foreign to me.  Marketing, customer service and managing a user base are far more my speed.

Who am I hiring for this? Any specific type of engineer, etc?   Is there anything you guys would like to see out of our Frankenstein Avalon?

I'm noob with the hardware Side so any assistance is appreciated.

This would be fantastic, except that Arduino probably can't handle gigs of hashes every second, it wasn't designed to handle calculations and high speed i/o.

Arduino Due (Arm based), if needed, but regular AVR ATMega328 can do 115kbaud Async Serial no problem.

edit: could also consider LPCExpresso, or rPi

why would we go to all of this trouble to make 1 chip mining boards on arduino shields.

lotta trouble for such little hashing.

+1 to the 10 chips per board stackable idea.

do we have datasheet?

Really? Except we don't need your money, ever Smiley Not a dime. Smiley  I apologize if you don't have experience in ...things.. but businesses do make do with individuals with different skill sets. I personally am not an engineer, but I sure would pay one well, and make sure s/he had a proper stake in their own success.

But again, a comparison to a company that needed crowd funding, and anything I do, would be very different.  Though if you do open up a Popsicle stand and want to rank it nationally on Google, I'll be happy to help you live your American dream.

Just contacted Zefir. He had declared that he would buy chips to support Burning and
this DIY project. If I don't hear back from him soon then this is number one priority at
the moment.

How many chips would people be willing to purchase? Can we get a count?
Important to note that chips could be sitting around for months before being
utilized realistically speaking.

I don't know if I have the trust needed, but I could manage it, but better if
a very reputable member of the community stepped forward and helped out.

I'm good for a 500 Parts!
