This is not new and what you think that government are doing nothing , they are taking all steps to control it but the currput peoples are in the government also who are helping the illegal peoples to carry illegal activity.  First they were using fiat currency and USD is the currency which is used easily in any country. and after that they introduced crypto currency and as soon as the government stopped them and it came in focus to the world and the technical guys are using it as online currency and now it is getting more famous both in legal and illegal activity.

This must be in response to the way some men in the government can be viewing Bitcoin in particular and cryptocurrency in general as possibly being used for illegal activities. The fact is that any money can used for illegal activities but rather than constrict that money you go ahead and prosecute those who broke the law and not the medium. Would we imprison the gun rather than the one who use the gun to kill?

I know this can be considered a sarcastic question but for many times the problem with the government is that it has lost its common sense many decades ago...some of their thinking is quite an upside down kind of understanding.

Agreed, USD is just a currency that is mostly known by people so it's most probably used or request by bad people for their services such as killing, kidnapping, etc. USD or any other currency has no fault in those things and simply is used due to value in human lives. Money is considered as one of the needs of human to live.
