Hey guys,

At the moment I am generating a website for my local community, with a goal to educate them efficiently about bitcoin. What I want us to talk about is this:

What is the best process that people should take to get acquainted with bitcoin.

I think that it should go something like this. Theory ---> Wallet ---> Theory ---> Faucet ---> BTC+Theory ---> HashNest (Cloud Mining)

What do you guys think?
What does the "Theory" part consist for you?
What was the process you used to educate your friends about bitcoin?

Let's get some traction here and find a way to present and inform people about bitcoin in an efficient manner.

Cheers,
Who

Generally videos are always best for introduction in any subject.
Maybe a simple show / tutorial about how to claim first satoshi, how to transfer it to the desired wallet or micropayment platform, than how to spend it with direct transaction or some middleman service.
Good explanation of qt wallet and lightweight wallet is also easy doable as a video. On screen text may be sufficient if you dont have the voice for it.
Use YouTube and gain some revenue in the process Smiley cause why not.

My idea is to generate revenue through introducing people to bitcoin, although this isn't my one and only goal. I would also like to see more people use bitcoin in everyday situations and transactions among friends.

As for cloud mining, using reputable companies, such as bitmain is low-risk, low-reward. Also, this is a scalable way of growing your revenue, because you could start with your faucet earnings and purchase like 6 GH/s which can add and add value to your account, plus you get to keep the GH/s as capital, which can be sold if necessary.

If you can, please explain why this seems to you that I would be training them to get scammed? I agree that it shouldn't end in this, but it sure is a good option for a nice investment.

I like the idea about the videos, and I've thought of that before. But now when you mentioned it, it seems that it's way better than just plain old text on a website. Definitely it is one of the most engaging ways to transmit a message to your audience, and my voice isn't that bad. So I think I'll go with this.

My idea is to take the completely uneducated, uninformed individual and convert them to a knowledgeable bitcoin person.

As for information, theory...

Which sources should I consider highest in regards to bitcoin and blockchain technology?

Thanks for your support guys,
Who

If your main goal is to generate revenue, staying away from cloud mining would be better.
These sites sell you the risk associated with mining at a really bad premium. Most of the time, especially if the difficulty is going up, you'll have trouble breaking even.

I'd suggest trading fiat to Bitcoin if you want people to have a bigger number in their wallet. Getting into mining yourself instead of just buying hashrate would also be a better way to learn.

My way of bitcoin education:

- Explain why we need bitcoin and what is the difference from fiat and from Paypal

- Introduce faucets. Now you will get chances to earn for the efforts of finding new people who are still interested on bitcoin.

- Now let them ask questions. One example : they will ask how to gather earning from faucets, so you will introduce them wallets.

- Never introduce cloud mining until they are able to identify ponzi and scams.

Thanks for your thoughts guys/gals!

Every little bit helps.

My main goal is to get more people to use bitcoin for selling and buying. It is going to be a gateway site between my country and the internet. Available in both English and Macedonian, I hope to create a place where people, old and new can find some sort of benefit.

I understand that this leads to revenue, due to my own affiliate links and ads placed on the site and within the conversion process.

As for cloud mining, sure they share the risk with the investors, but it's much easier. I'm okay with having a positive or negative experience with it, but I surely need to have some sort of experience myself.

I should also create warning pages, informing visitors about scams and ponzi schemes.

Let's keep going guys, I have 1 million people who don't know about bitcoin, and I can do something about it Smiley

If you start with theory many people will stop reading after 3 sentences. You should start with example usage of Bitcoin, explaining why people may need it.

i don't know what you mean by theory. but here is how i would try to introduce bitcoin to other people who are new and have no idea what it is:
1) tell them bitcoin is money (as simple as that)
2) then talk about benefits of using bitcoin: lower fees. fast transactions (1 sec transaction not the confirmation). decentralized (no need to beg the banks to let you use your money). high security (cold storage)
3) in my experience it is best not to talk about technical stuff such as mining, how it works, how blocks are found. if someone is interested in these things then tell them about it not when you are introducing bitcoin to someone. it would be like explaining to people how credit cards are created, how an ATM communicates with the bank and encrypts the data,... nobody needs to know these to use credit cards.

4) stop telling others to use faucets: they will curse you and bitcoin when they want to spend that money they earned and have to pay a lot of fee because of massive amount of dust
stop telling people to invest in scams like cloud mining: they will curse you and bitcoin when they lose money after they ran away.

I would concentrate on the introduction to Bitcoin <Basic theory on what it is> first and then move on to the services and goods that are available for sale with Bitcoin payment. <They should see that it is a payment option that are widely accepted>

The last thing you would have to educate them on, is how to spot the difference between legitimate sites and scams. This might help you with that, http://www.badbitcoin.org/

Thank you for your positive contribution towards Bitcoin, we need more people like you to take this mainstream. ^smile^

I would start with telling what BTC is and why it is so valuable and what makes it different that any other currency out there.Focus on the benefits and the exact purpose of BTC-this way you'll attract the attention of the people and they'll see what BTC is about. Then you can start telling about sites, retailers accepting BTC and the bitcoin community.I think that's the best order in terms of explaining what BTC is

I would skip this last part  HashNest (Cloud Mining). Why? Mining should be in theory that its only to professionals now, u need huge money to invest and u need to know how to do it efficently.

I just read some practical approaches here for spreading bitcoin education to new people. But they are must be very boring for anyone regardless of his age and enthusiasm toward bitcoin system. Having any kind of video to teach might make them to have continuous education so that they will adopt bitcoin just because this type of initiatives.

Chuck out faucets and cloud mining. Horrible ideas. Just make it one whole in-depth discussion of the bitcoin protocol, the inner workings and how economically efficient it is.

Thank you for your input guys,

I'm taking your opinions in strong consideration as I keep working on my project. I agree with what most of you are saying about integrating video lessons to explain bitcoin in simple terms, especially in the beginning, as the amount of interest highly depends on the vibe of the content. And videos can easily be exciting!

I understand that I should keep to the basics right now and simply introduce bitcoin as it is, money. Money that is in your own control and is easy to transfer for a minimal fee. The timeline for my project is long enough for me to verify the facts and fiction of bitcoin (this is a nice infographic).

Before releasing the website initially I hope to explore the legal issues concerning bitcoin in my country in particular and provide valuable information for individuals and business, concerning transparent and open use of bitcoin in their lives. I want to make sure that using bitcoin is completely legal, before proceeding to promote it's use, but in the case it's not I will simply target the international community only, instead of the local community as well. My hope is that I will succeed in achieving awareness about this technology and develop acceptance wherever it's seen.

OH! You're going to like this one. If all is good, I plan on hiring some people to do physical promotion of the website, and I'm going to pay them in bitcoin! Cheesy

Despite the whole lack of faith in faucets, I do believe they are an awesome way (although they can be a grind fest) to get your first satoshi on your personal wallet and gain "free" experience with bitcoin.

Keep up with your inputs guys, post new ideas, maybe even ask your friends to give it a thought and post! Help me generate a great beginner integration process!

All the best,
Who.

You better remove that cloud mining part or don't refer them to any cloud mining ponzis after you educate them about bitcoin. That will give bad impression when those cloud mining turned into scam. Better to go  through What is bitcoin > why it is different > how easy is to use it > how to open bitcoin wallet (web/mobile) and understand how bitcoin address works, looks like > how bitcoin is formed > why price keep flucuating > anything you have to be careful when using or dealing with bitcoin.

This is great input amacar2, exactly what I was looking for, a nice streamlined process of informing.

One thing I've been wondering is, what should my answer be to the following question:

"So, how do I get bitcoins?" - One way I know is through faucets, then services and/or products, signature campaigns and simply buying them.

Problem is, most of the people selling bitcoin are selling it for a higher than market price. Buying with a credit card also isn't available everywhere, and even when it is, certain commissions and exchange fees take place. I understand that there are topics working out this subject, but what would you say is the best way to buy bitcoin?
