Help with ccMiner Cryptonight set up

I'm working on setting up a mining rig with Nvidia GTX 1070 GPU's and Windows 7. I can download the Minergate software but I'm having problems running ccMiner Cryptonight to mine Monero. No matter what mining pool I try to join I always get the same error message " Stratum connection failed - retrying in 30 seconds".

I'm not sure what a stratum connection is so I have no clue what the problem is. I've searched all over the internet but I still cant find a good answer to my problem so I'm hoping someone here will be able to help me. Thanks in advance!
