Last time bitcoin jumped from 2 to 30 dollars and the news story was on some random website. Now this might even hit the news.
Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

Silk road is a tor website so it's nearly impossible to take down and even if it happens, like the news story says someone will just open it again.

Sure. Anything can affect the market price, but thats exactly the point. They don't control the market and the price, just affected by it

it doesn't actually mention bitcoin, not that people can't find out though.
