Its too bad this man cant run for president Such a visionary and will go down in history as one of the greats. You want this fraud as the president? Even Hillary Clinton is better than him. Explain me about his "vision". He has been a complete failure so far, and he is only making money thanks to his lobbying power.

But will he ever get to build a rocket that doesn't blow up?
That's the nature of the business. NASA blew up piles of rockets in the 50s and 60s. He's doing it out in the open and his averages are probably lower. That is true. The thing is that that was back in the 50s and 60s. The knowledge from those accidents have already been learned, so he shouldn't been having those same problems. It's not like he's starting from scratch after a big earth catastrophic that sent every country back to the stone age.

It would be nice. There's probably an environmental situation is not as bad as on the planet Earth. Pollute the planet there is no one else.
Well, the environment there would be worst than a polluted Earth. It's a completely different atmosphere. Then there's the weaker gravity, and the colder than hell cold. Plus the insane winds.

Its too bad this man cant run for president Such a visionary and will go down in history as one of the greats. He's not a visionary. This is a money grab. This is like an ICO for billionaires. He presents them a fancy dream, makes it seem possible, knowing full well that there will never be anything for show in any of their life time. The hype is great, they will invest, but he's just stealing their money to pretend to do something.

The most dificult part of that mission is to defeat radiation and it could be solved with money, time and investigation.

Far harder than people realize..
For one thing you are more susceptible to cosmic rays. You will get more risk from meteors too. Earth is hammered with them large & small 24/7 and most are dealt with by the atmosphere. It's like a bullet proof vest.. with out one on Mars you are fucked ! All it takes is 1 rock flying in from above to puncture a space man house.
ONE good CME and it could be ugly too. Almost no magnetic field means no defense from one. Or.. solar wind.
Less light for humans and plants to grow too.
And being underground is not really doable anytime soon.. It would take too much work to excavate..
Factor this in.. how long it takes to get there sending 3 or 4 people. And having them protected from Radiation on the way. It costs i heard 10 grand to put 1 pound into space orbit so.. Imagine how many pounds of food you would need to send 4 people across space for a year. Imagine how much 4 people would eat per day.. then when they get to Mars they will need more food. Then they need a another years worth etc if they plan on coming back. It also costs fuel to push the food across space.
Extracting water from soil ? They won't get much.. not enough to survive long term very easily.
Mars is more a fantasy than people want to believe. I think it's FAR harder to pull off than the public realizes. It makes going to the moon look like child's play. Going to the moon was a joke.. Going to Mars is fucking serious !

Musk will never go to Mars personally until he has had a whole lot of other people suffer and die taking the bugs out of the system. Of course, by that time he will be dead and gone anyway.

If we go there, only then will there be life there. But it may not be intelligent enough to find the life. If it were that intelligent, we wouldn't have gone in the first place, and there wouldn't be life there.

You don't understand what are you talking about? Such operation is very complicate and very expensive. Also, it will be very hard to change climate in Mars so that we can live there. Life there will be very difficult and also a lot legal issues must be solved first. Mars can't be solution for the immigrants and a lot time will pass until we colonized Mars, maybe even centuries.

Colonizing Mars is a really dumb idea, IMO.
With a lack of magnetosphere, it will never truly support a terraformed atmosphere.
That is why humans would need to terraform mars first. Creating an artificial magnetosphere for mars: http://www.nifs.ac.jp/report/NIFS-886.pdf

Why would he go to Mars anyway? it's not his duty or job to be there just because he's the one that's leading the project... that's really stupid argument you have there.

Why do you think I have an argument there? It's simply a statement, and you made a different statement. Why does Musk want to put people on Mars? Is he doing it just so he can say, "I did it?" Isn't he doing it so that he can get off the earth and away from the collapsing systems that will bring about real world war this time? Doesn't he really want to find a safe haven for himself and a few thousand people who will all support each other? And if the project falls through, isn't he situating himself to make a lot of money off it? You need to read between the lines a little better.

Sabotage speculation gathers around SpaceX explosionRumors of potential sabotage are gathering around the investigation of the explosion during a recent SpaceX launch test.
SpaceX has been investigating the early September failure of a Falcon 9 rocket that caught fire and exploded on a Cape Canaveral launch pad just days before it was scheduled to launch.
The Washington Post reported on Friday that the inquiry has taken a "bizarre twist," suggesting SpaceX is considering sabotage a possible cause of the explosion. According to the Post, a SpaceX employee sought access to facilities belonging to SpaceX competitor United Launch Alliance — a partnership between Boeing and Lockheed Martin.
SpaceX investigators came across something suspicious when reviewing video of the failure—"an odd shadow and then a white spot" on the roof of a ULA building, according to the Post. A SpaceX employee seeking access to the building was turned away, but Air Force investigators later dispatched to the facility did not find anything on the roof.
SpaceX sent a statement CNBC saying that a "preliminary review of the data and debris suggests a breach in the second stage's helium system" on the Falcon 9, "but the cause of the breach is still unknown."
A ULA representative sent a statement to CNBC saying "ULA cooperated with the Air Force's 45th Space Wing, and nothing associated with the SpaceX accident was found."
SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has also expressed puzzlement at what might have caused the breach. Earlier this month he tweeted "Particularly trying to understand the quieter bang sound a few seconds before the fireball goes off. May come from rocket or something else." There is no outer-space, all rockets are detonated or dumped in the ocean that's assuming there's an actual launch at all.

Very good news. Now it is time to send all the goatfuckers to mars, every problem we have now would be solved. We just need to build some streets and houses so they won't feel that they are actually in a prison. lol.

This is why Tesla exists. Tesla has a big problem. Are the batteries. Existing batteries can quickly be charged and discharged quickly. They can't compete with the internal combustion engine. All the money saved should be spent on the battery.
