they're gonna have to keep upping it as the forum gets older. legendary don't cut it any more. soon there'll be thousands of them. what would be cool is if there were real benefits to higher ranks like the donators have.

I doubt that would really help, considering newbies nowadays still fall for even Members scamming. There, however, are real benefits to having a higher rank. You have access to the Investigations board, and you are able to manipulate your signature. Plus, is the gained experience not enough of a reward? (of course, seeing as the signature market is large, that too is a pro for many)

There's no use in adding something with so little real use when there are plenty of other ideas that are better.

I agree here.  Rather than add another rank to the system, perhaps some kind of sub-rank that represents purpose and job classing

Incorrect. There still aren't *that* many legendary ranks.
There was some discussion regarding this matter in the past. I wouldn't mind a more advanced ranking system which would reduce some of the 'dullness' from the current one. However, I think that the top tier ranks should not be awarded based on activity alone, which in a way makes them less special.

my thoughts are, if we have something that challenge us as human, we always performance better and the way this should be done is setting serious terms and conditions. We need to work harder as human being.

If they want to create that rank then I will suggest that they do not have to depend that rank on the quantity of posts but they have to rely that on the intelligence of the member like he will have to be expert in every firld relating to this forum and will know all about bitcoin and will try to help and guide every member of this forum and will be a more polite and respectful member of the forum and will be appointed as Grand master by the Admin.

Related, but not directly.....a coin for the forum.  Not a shit coin, but a side chain.  Limited supply, perhaps not tradable, that can be used to reward outstanding forum work.  Within that side chain, a couple a inner tokens for specific areas, like "development", "coding", "promotion" and even something along the lines of "helpfulness", that last one needs a better name.  The coins can be worn as badges of honor and will not be given out willy-nilly.  There may even be a few select coins that transfer from person to person, like an employee of the month only more prestigious.  Just a thought.

I don't like your idea. Bitcointalk is forum dedicated to bitcoin, why forum would need to have their own coin. If coin can't ve tradable, where it would possible to use it?

I added a system of badges to SMF a while ago, though only two are defined now. Here are the current badges:

Bitcoin expert	Dev&Tech only. People with this badge know enough about the Bitcoin network to reimplement something very like it from scratch. They are capable of intelligently discussing the Bitcoin network: current protocol, possible attacks, proposed changes, etc. Criteria: Recommendation by an existing Bitcoin expert or core dev and approval by a forum administrator.
Bitcoin-Qt core developer	Dev&Tech only. These are the core developers of Satoshi's Bitcoin client. They are listed here. Core developers are among the top contributors to Bitcoin-Qt, and they are all bitcoin experts, though they don't also get that badge.
The Glider(hacker symbol)	Awarded for people who have responsibly disclosed forum security flaws.

A core dev does not "outrank" a bitcoin expert (or vice-versa), and it's possible for someone without a badge to contribute meaningfully to a discussion with experts and core devs.

Hey... there's that exact thing you said! There was, however, talk about a badge or something for people who report posts accurately and consistently (hundreds, not just scores) a while ago to incentivize reporting.

This is nothing in comparison with still being a Hero member when there are a lot of Legendary members sticking around who have less activity than you, less number of posts than you, who even registered later than you, and are posting total garbage at that. And all thanks to some obscure algo randomly selecting peeps and awarding them this rank...

I think the member ranks are better as it is now and do not need to modify any more but if a time come when everyone will be legendary then the admin need to start an other rank for to distinguish most experts.

Exactly.  I thought I was going to be a beautiful, unique snowflake once I hit Hero, but it is now bitter ashes in my mouth because there are tons of other account farming, spamming, scamming, account selling, spear-chucking bitcoin diddlers who have also ranked up.  It's like those goddamn bosses in Dragon Quest IX who level up with you.  Impossible to get ahead.
