**IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT**

The rate of vSlice has changed. It is now 1 ETH = 120 vSlice.

This rate is hard coded into the ICO smart contract. It happens automatically.

The timestamp for that change was, as below:

Token issuance change from 130 per 1 ETH to 120 per 1 ETH:

Human time (GMT): Mon, 21 Nov 2016 18:18:08 GMT
Epoch timestamp: 1479752288

The rate will stay 1 ETH = 120 vSlice until this timestamp:

Next issuance change from 120VSL per 1ETH to 100VSL per 1ETH:

Unix Epoch Time: 1480357088
GMT: Mon, 28 Nov 2016 18:18:08 GMT

Ethereum Hard Fork Update

In the 'Bitcoin World' Hard-Fork is kind of a dirty word.

In Ethereum however, it is the way the Software is upgraded and the system is perfected.

As a result, Ethereum's pace of development is much more rapid than Bitcoin's.

There are benefits to both approaches. They are just different ways of doing things.

In its Roadmap Ethereum had, from the beginning, several Hard Forks planned, well in advance.
The next planned Hard Fork is called 'Metropolis'. It was planned from the very beginning of the network and software's creation.

The Ethereum Network Moves Forward

A few unexpected Hard Forks have come up, along the way.
Some were very contentious. Others were not. They were all responses to issues at the time.

Recently the Ethereum network went under an ongoing and sustained attack.
This was a result of flaws in the way Gas was implemented. Gas is like 'fees' in Bitcoin.

The attacker exploited this flaw to attack the network for a sustained period of time.

The Ethereum community responded with a Hard-Fork that was implemented yesterday.

We think this is good for Ethereum. It is how networks get stronger over time.
They are attacked and they build resistance. It's just how organic bodies, like your own, get strong over time too.

Anyway, the Hard Fork went smoothly yesterday.
Everything is back on track with the Ethereum network.

Impact on vDice and Other Dapps

Many Dapps in Ethereum were affected by the spam attack.

Gas limits on transactions were artificially set low, at 2m Gas.
This was a measure to combat the spam attack on the network.

To get a Dapp onto the Ethereum network, you need to spend Gas.

A lot of Dapps, including vDice's new updated code-base, take 2m+ Gas to load onto the network.

So, this did delay us a bit, and our roadmap. It also delayed a lot of other Dapps.

Moving Forward

Now the Hard-Fork is over, we should see the Gas limit slowly rise.
That means soon we will be able to deploy our new codebase.

The new codebase works with other infrastructure to make betting much faster and more efficient.
It represents the beginning of the end for Phase 1 of our development roadmap.

vDice is Classic SatoshiDICE implemented as an Ethereum Smart Contract.

It's going to do some amazing things.
And we look forward to everyone trying out the upgraded code we've been working hard on.

Of course, we also look forward to trying out all the other new Dapps that will be loaded onto the network now.
Not just in gambling, but in all parts of the Ethereum ecosystem.

Onward and upward. It is brights days for Ethereum.

And hats off to the core developers of the Ethereum software implementations.

They have done a fine job!

Thank you for explaining this. I was concerned about the effects of the hard fork on vDice's code base. Looks like you guys know what to do and have it under control.

Keep up the great work!

this stuff will not make you money. imo at least.

Why? Give people the reason please. In the contrary, I believe it will be a great project, we can earn from betting, as well as platform dividends.   Cheesy

Well, because...
  • They aren't provably fair.
  • They aren't decentralized.
  • They don't seem to have any plans to become provably fair or decentralized.
  • They have had very little success since they launched in June
  • The players that do give them a try often run into issues due to their shoddy code.
  • They have lied and continue to lie about all of the above.

Eventually reading the same thing over and over just makes you a troll...

Really?  I honestly don't see them.

Did they explain how they are decentralized and provably fair despite their audit stating this?

"Participants in the vdice smart contract bear a small amount of risk from the ‘house’ being a bad actor, and from a bad actor internal to Oraclize"

and this:

As it stands, the owner can reset emergency withdrawal forever by just calling the function over and over, making sure money never goes to the emergency address.

Did they explain how or why they went from Production ready, successful app for 5 months to Alpha phase?

Did they explain why their team has more blogging and secretary experience than software dev?

Yes, when I call out sites for doing unethical things, they have no way to defend themself other than discredit me.

That;s what you're trying to do right now.

In the end, you're just proving that you're on the same level as Betcoin.ag, Fortunejack, Pocketdice, Btc-casino and any other site that thinks they can bullshit their way to success.
