Hot or cold smoking depends on the bong...
If you have a straight chamber with an ice catch - go cold
If you have something with percolators, go warm

The build your own stuff from Hoss glass actually has a chamber with liquid in it you can put in the freezer, like those freeze em mugs, I get really good rips on that with room temp water.
