Not really, I've been mining on the testnet also with a Ryzen and haven't had any problems but it's too bad there's going to be a GPU miner and CPU mining won't be worth it

Can I mine coins which use MTP algorithm?

Not yet, there's only one for nvidia if I'm not mistaken and it has to be a card with more than 4gb of memory otherwise it won't work.
