Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

Very experienced with GPU programming--I know the sun has set on GPU-based mining, but these ASICs don't cover everything else that can be done massively parallel.

There is currently a 1.1 BTC bounty for making oclvanitiminer compatible with Catalyst 13.

It's probably a very quick patch (if any, just updating sdk's might fix it).
