Who is to be blamed for the number of overweight adults and children in the US? do you guys think private companies that sell whatever it takes make money should shoulder the blame? Then again, we should remember that in a capitalist society, the consumers decide what is produced through demand.

A study done in 2012 classified almost 35% of american adults as being obese

imo, eating healthy is expensive, thereforee, people have to eat what they can afford, and because of capitalism, the only food people can afford are often unhealthy, for this reason, i think capitalism is to be blamed. What do you guys think?

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

actually eating healthy would be cheap if everyone is doing it.

for example it would be enough to eat meat once a week and only vegetables and green stuff :3

hell on earth, its better to let 3rd world people starve Smiley

Look at their life styles too lazy, too busy working jobs that require no physical effort, they park as close to the door of the store they frequent, clothing manufactures push plus size clothes, manufactures continue to make their products to accommodate those plus sizes.

They're not lazy,  most of them live paycheck to paycheck. Many have multiple jobs.
In the US, you need a car to get anywhere. It's not like the UK where you go afoot or take a 5 minute bus.
I think the main reasons are infrastructure and available time. Unlike Japan exercise is not required in office.

If you wish to blame it on economic factors then I believe socialism is to blame, cheap accessible processed foods combined with this belief that the government is your daddy and will always look after you, thus people lose responsibility for themselves.

Obesity really exploded after WW2, more so in recent years.
The most disgusting pigs I have seen are wholly dependant on welfare.

The persons to blame are the people and the choices they make. I eat very healthy, and look healthy, because of my own actions. What's this blame others for it?

Obesity is not a problem of capitalism, but a problem of way of life. Now people eat a lot and move a little. And the food is not the best quality.

The American invention of fast food is the cause of the spread of obesity. If you eat right and going to the gym, it won't be a problem even under capitalism.

Blame human laziness. You need to prepare yourself and not eat at fast food restaurants. How often do you run or go to the gym? Here is the cause of obesity.

It is not clear what the problem is? Extra weight is your fault. Try to eat less burgers and hotdogs. This is not a problem at all.

Really, what's the capitalism? There are so many people who have a normal weight with the same capitalism. Need to monitor themselves and to conduct a correct way of life.

It's not only in America. Far from it. Food with high sugar content and plenty of fat and sweeteners are just cheap to make, so the poor buy plenty of it everywhere. There's just less data about it.

I used to be a citizen and a taxpayer. Those days are long gone.

Even in other countries, there are people that are obese. The reason for this is because people become so comfortable in their lives that they become lazy. Lazy not in the way that they don't go to school or to work, but lazy in the way that they aren't thinking about how they look like, they don't exert effort to make themselves look presentable, etc. And I think that's the first step to obesity -- not caring about how you look like.

If you want to eat a lot of foods, then it would be okay because you don't care about people say about you. You don't mind people telling that you're fat. Money is not the problem here. Americans are just using the price of healthy foods as an excuse why they are becoming obese, imo. You can always grow vegetables in your garden if you really want to save money.

I personally think it's the persons fault for becoming obese unless they actually have a medical problem.

Even if there is a medical problem is often the fault of the person who your diet and lifestyle has currently disrupted the metabolism in the body.

Our body is a direct result of the lives we live. We live the lifestyle society wants us to live. Is it people or society fault?

Society has nothing to do with it. The availability of food, lack of food culture and a sedentary lifestyle that's the only reason.

You are implying that all individuals in society can think for themselves, I seriously doubt that. Media has a far greater control than people are aware of. Society is almost certainly an influence on the lifestyle.

Often times, people are just buying what they can afford which is generally unhealthy (cheap fast food)

In America, common fast food restaurants, not because Americans can't buy good food, and they just too lazy to cook. Restaurants expensive. It turns out that the reason of the laziness.
There's a lot of reasons why people in America go to fast food restaurants to eat food mainly. Number one is that so they can post it on social media sites, look rich, and get praise and attention from people. The next one is that they are too pre-occupied by things to the point that they can't cook food for themselves. The next reason might be because they don't know how to cook or maybe they can't cook well. There's a lot of reason why people choose to go out to eat food instead of just cook food by themselves and it's not always because they're lazy.

If you put more food in a bass pond the bass will grow fatter.  Like going to gym, people need to train on eating just as hard as exercise.

Studies show that even obese people can have higher life expectancy than thin people.

http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/features/why-being-overweight-means-you-live-longer-the-way-scientists-twist-the-facts-10158229.html
Obese being defined as a BMI of 30 and above. That means those with a BMI of 31 are clumped together as part of a group which includes those with a BMI of 50 – and above. What does this tell us about the health problems of having a BMI of 31? Well, absolutely nothing.

BMI between 30 and 35 lived longer than those of so-called "normal" weight.
